My truck is way too slow....
I was driving home, and a corvette was in front of me...we were going probably 75. The speed limit is 50. Then we get behind this brand new F-150 truck, and theres double lanes on my way home. I knew right when we hit the double lanes, that the corvette would blow by him. Well, he freakin flew!! Right when the truck in front turned, the corvette took off sooo fast...I dropped my truck into 3rd gear to try and keep up...didnt happen at all....
So my question is to you guys....what would be a better, faster, kinda cheap car? I would like a Turbo, and AWD, but I think if it is fast enough, and FWD, I dont care....I wa thinking a Mitsubishi Ecplise GSX AWD turbo...but someone said that Eclipses suck...so not sure...whats good everyone? Comments please...
Also, can it be pretty cheap...poor high school student on the tightest budget ever...thanks guys...

just because a corvette flew by some other truck doesnt mean that your truck is slow
what kind of truck do you have
corvettes can roast pretty much all stock trucks...and i dont like the eclipses...my sister has one and it does suck (98)

what kinda truck you have? A corvette will most likely be faster than most trucks anyways..

used mustang...around where i live...you can get a 2000 mustang (v6) for about 3,500 used
could get a cavalier, then put some mods into it...you can get used ones (around where i live and are in good condition) for about 2,000...one of my friends found one for 1500 and put exhaust, headers, and cool air intake into it...he has some more things but im not sure what else...he has to take out the stock computer chip in it though because it cuts out at 110

If she has the RS or the GS, it's a totally different car than the GS-T and GS-X.

Evo 8's run around $23k for a used, high-mileage car, and can have some serious issues with the transmission and clutch. Definitely not a high school friendly budget car.
A used, high-mileage Evo 7 will run him upwards of $35,000. They were never imported and sold here in the US and are extremely hard to find for sale here used because the people that import them intend to keep them.
Snowsk5054 - The GS-X is probably your best bet as far as "bang per buck" goes.

I hope that was a joke.
Generally speaking there are 3 things people want in a car, cheap/fast/reliable, but as it turns out you can only have 2 of them in a car. DSMs (talon, eclipse, laser) with AWD and turbos have lots of potential to go fast for cheap but tend to be broken more often than not. Crank walk anyone?
Right now the best bang for the buck cars are fox body mustangs and LT1 f-bodies.

But this guy is 17, and apparently on a very tight budget. I doubt he would be able to insure one of those, which is most likely the case with the turbo dsm as well.

Why do you keep bringing up the z24 like it's some kind of performance car?

I'm paying about $60 a month for the state minimum, which is the same I'm paying for my Tbird insurance isn't THAT bad

integras are hardly "fast", they run 16's, 15s if lucky stock. and yes ricers, I know they can be modded, but so can every other car out there. MY car could whup your econobox, and that's saying something

on topic, why only FWD? are you afraid of having a RWD car? you know my mustang only cost $1k, and would have run with nothing more than a budget rebuild (only because the headgasket blew and antifreeze ruins bearings. if antifreeze hadn't gotten in the oil it would have safe to run cuz the previous owner replaced the hg). aftermarket parts are pretty damn cheap compared to other cars, because there's so many people modding them. IIRC import parts are still a bit expensive because they're newer and many parts are imported from overseas.
a stock, average mileage fox will run low/mid-15s bone stock. it doesn't take much to make em into 13 second cars, which is plenty fast enough to deal with probably 90% of the cars around you

Wow, seriously? That's certainly a LOT better than I expected. I thought CA had some pretty high minimums, but I've never lived there or insured a car there. All I know is, everybody in Florida complains constantly about how high insurance is, and we're not far from the national average.

well the people who complain probably have full coverage, which is obviously a ton more than what I pay. basically if I get in a wreck, my insurance covers the other person, and if my car is totaled I'm SOL

hahaa. no wonder you got smoked man. that 3.0 sucks. we both know that! well man you know about all the power mods for the 3.0, thus you know that the 3.0 is not a good project engine. go get yourself a 2" front lift kit, a 5.0 from a mustang, new drivetrain, and make her a V8. Thats the best power bet. even with an underdrive pulley, intake, exaust, etc, etc. we both know its still weak.

Beating a (OMGorRZZ1!!11 hawtness) "z24" is nothing special at all. They are your run-of-the-mill four cylinder engine car...no more.
I once had a cat with three legs that I'm pretty sure could take a cavalier on a quarter mile.
