One step closer to making the world more dangerous

So I got my permit today (teh test was a friggin joke)...

Hopped on ebay real quick and found a sweet camaro for $100.

specs:
• 1987 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe
• VIN #: 1G1FP21S3HN167669
• Clear Title
• Blue Exterior
• Gray Interior
• 2.8L V6 Engine
• Stick-Shift 5-Speed Transmission
• AM/FM/Cassette/Stereo Sound System
• Intermittent Variable-Speed Wipers
• Power Steering
• Rear Defroster
• Tinted Windows
• Alloy Wheels

I'd have to learn how to drive a stick, but I'm a fast learner.

HEres why its only for $100:

Frickin baby blue camaro.

Ever see Cool runnins? When the fat guy buys a POS sled, and he's like. "..Guys I know its not much, but its all I could afford." Then the jamaicans are like "Shhh... She's beautiful."

Thats how I feel about this.

Gonna talk to my mom tomorrow. I have about $150 I'll put into it. Right now I have $300, but $150 needs to go towards a body for my gun.

Problem: Where to keep it while I cough up money for registration.

Solution: My uncle has a huge ass frickin parkinglot that he's getting tarred soon.

Solution 2: My uncle has another house that has a ginormous back yard.

Problem: In the waiting time, my car might get ****ed up from weather.

I might go take a look at it in a couple days.

Don't buy it. It's rusty. Trust me, don't buy something rusty. Save your money, get a job, save more money, don't get a girlfriend, just go to Tijuana and buy hookers there for $20, and save your money. Buy something that is worth buying.

for one, it isn't baby blue
two, don't get it, you'll only regret it. like comrade said, save your money and get something worthwhile. just remember, you get what you pay for. that is definitely NOT a sweet camaro, it's a trashy, v6 bucket, something xxxfirexxx would be interested in

yeah, things like to rust up here in the north anyways cause of the road salt, if it starts rusted that salts gonna find a nice place right next to the rust thats already there. if you do get it, get that rust polished off and repainted, other wise your screwed.

Don't buy it for your first car, if you are going to part it out you could probably make a few bucks. For all the rust you see expect to find much more down the road. Secondly, I believe that hatch is from an 86 f-body being the only year with that brake light so either they put in the wrong year or swapped the hatch at some point. I'd also recommend staying away from the V6 f-bodies because of the simple fact that no matter how much money you put into that engine you still won't be fast. You'll end up wanting a V8 and for what the swap would cost it would be cheaper to buy a V8 car.

Yeah, plus those style Camaros often have a lot of frame rust that you can't really see. That means that the frame could be a lot weaker than it should be, which either means major problems in the future, or a possibly-deadly accident.

for the current gas prices, and your budget, that car will **** you

get an old vw bug. they're cheap as hell to buy (a nice stock one wont cost more than $900, and that's a NICE one)

and their parts are dirt cheap, and they get about 35-38 mpg

if all you want is transportation, get a cheap econobox. just don't pull a xxxfire and put wal-mart spinners on it

better yet, learn how to ride a bike (motorcycle) and get one of those. you'll get 3x better mpg in it, and wont have people bummin rides off of you

hmm if the bumper is that rusted what's the frame look like? I'd do mroe research on it. maybe go see it in person before you buy it (that's the only way I'll ever buy a car is if i inspect it myself)

and she is beautiful, but it's running a high risk of being a wolf in sheeps clothing

ebay should be your LAST place to buy cars. look for local stuff first, hit up police auctions, the paper, friends and family first. and don't buy the first thing you find, either. I was looking for a stang, and someone had an 88 GT hatch, and it was in hella good condition for $700. only it didnt have a tranny or engine. i missed out on it, but later got my stang for $1k and it has pretty low miles, and isn't missing anything. so take your time and look around

Uh oh, we better not have another xxxfirexxx here.

Well, if you did get that car for 100$, then its not as bad as some are making it out to be. The thing that worries me is the rust on the car. Chances are, its like that in more than one spot.
Also, its not gonna be bad on gas guys...its a 2.6 V6. Sure it wont be great, but at least its not a 5.0 V8 like mine But hey, I dont care, you only live once.

I would say that it'd be a good deal if you got it in good shape, and up and running great within a margin of $500-$750. Keep us posted on what goes on with it.

Oh and if the V6's are anything like the V8's, watch it this summer...Camaros run pretty damn hot. I dont know alot about the sixes, but see if you can look into a cooler thermostat or something, if you notice your car is running a little hot.
