the huge hp leap WAS from the nitrous. the blower made ~10hp. an actual turbo or supercharger can make 100+hp

got 70 on a dyno and 70 on the real road is totaly different b/c on the real road, you got 70mph+ of air being forced into the engine where on a dyno.,... even if u got a fan infront of it.. you have like... 5~10mph of air/wind..

basicly what the blower is doing is forcing air into the intake like if it was on the real road....
that's only true if you have a ram-air intake system, which 99% of cars don't have. that blower is pushing at least 50mph air directly into the intake tube, while normally it is just sucking up ambient air, maybe 5mph at most

this is just a dyno gimmick. you really think someone's gonna strap a leaf blower to their engine and have someone sit on the front bumper and hold it at WOT when you're racing?

I'm thinking that the leaf blower woudl add some extra horsepower on teh dyno , even more than if teh car was moving. if you wanted ot make it accurate you could buy a switch that made the leaf blower blow at different speeds(to represent, respectively, how fast the car is going) that way you're gonna get accurate readings on the dyno

it would be way too complicated to make it work, for the 10hp increase. besides, how many cars do you know that have enough room in the engine bay for a leafblower? and it wouldnt make ANY more hp if it was moving, cuz it still isnt a ram-air system. the only source of incoming air would be through the blower, whether the car is moving or not is irrelevant

Why not just buy a cheap supercharger at the junk yard and make up a bracket for it. It wouldn't cost much and it would make between 30-60hp without having to do any major work, and it would look and sound a lot better then a leaf blower

yea, thats good and all but you'd have to build up the engine where it could handle that kind of boost to make 60 hp

not true of all engines. I know my 5.0 could handle a blower just fine. people have 200k mile engines with blowers on them. now on a little honda you'd probably blow it up

yea, you're 5.0 is a big engine. but how much boost could you run safely? I know guys with f 150's that only run like 8 psi on their stock engines

i dunno, never tried and my 5.0 is hardly a big engine, its only a 302. and displacement isnt really the factor, its just the engineering of the blocks and components. stock civic motors aren't made to have a ton of boost on em, thats why most (if not all) forced-induction motors are sleeved

We put 6psi turbos on our brockway diesels and they have been running fine for 35+ years. Even with only 6psi it was another 40 horse. Most motors without a high compression ratio can run atleast 5psi without being significantly modified. Something like a 200hp Honda 4cyl couldn't do that as they come from the factory already with a 12-1 compression ratio, while a 200hp mustang motor is only around 9-1.

I know its not BIG engine, i used to have an 88 crown vic with the 5.0 302. I'm just saying, compared to the two in that video its big, and its bigger than a lot of stuff you see on the road today
