engine build is almost done!

I've been building a motor in my garage between work/school and trying to play paintball. I still have to re-adjust the valves, 7.192" pushrods for a normal roller motor are too short, but I had them anyway so I figured I'd use them to check rocker/valve geometry - it's off center, but not too bad, can't find my dumb adjustable pushrod length checker.
350 .030" over - 355"
cast crank turned .010"/.010" -rotating assembly balanced within +/- 3g
scat 4340 forged 6" i-beam rods
speed pro hypereutectic flattop pistons
pro topline vortec heads, stage 2 port, 3/8 screw in studs/guideplates, 120lb springs set up for .540" lift - 10.25:1 CR
comp cams xtreme roller 264HR - 212/218@.050" .487/.493 lift 110lsa
comp cam magnum roller tip 1.6:1 ratio rockers
total $$$ spent so far = more than the cost of two new nexus ego's

lol - nothing right now, i sold my 2nd vehicle, a 81 jeep cj7 that it was intended to replace an amc 360. but right now i have a 32/14 hour split between work/school. so i've run out of time, and i'd rather waste my saturdays playing paintball than pulling/dropping engines. i'll find something to do with it.

Out of curiosity, any particular reason you chose the speed pro pistons?

That is built very similar to the 400 (well, 406, since it was bored over) in my uncle's '68 SS Camaro, his is cammed a bit rougher though. What are you using for an intake and carb? Interesting choice with the hyper pistons, usually everyone goes forged, then again with the hyper piston you get tighter clearances, it should be very durable and reliable for street use. At the track I'm sure it will make plenty of HP, without killing torque. What did you pull that block out of, or did you buy it as a short block?

no i pulled an entire motor out of 1989 pontiac t/a tbi car. I tore it down and sent everything off to be hot tanked, magnafluxed, get machine work done on the block/crank, balancing once I dropped off rods/pistons/flywheel/balancer one of the heads was cracked ( ) - so I sold the heads to the machine shop, guess they were going to try to weld one of the cracks at the exhaust seat on the 2 inner chambers. I got the bare block back, and built it from there as parts I ordered came in. I have a edelbrock performer rpm intake hanging on the wall, haven't decided what induction to run since I don't know if I'm going carb or fi. the choice of the hypers is pretty self explanatory - cheap - light -can use tighter tolerances, and in my application they are pretty much indestructible (knock on wood). I always liked federal mogul, I would have preferred KB. I also have a XE294HR sitting in the garage to, but that will never make it into this motor, unless I pick up another set of heads.
