Well this weekend I bought a 1988 Dodge Grand Caravan solely on the fact that it was 250$. Well I decided that I can't be cruisin in my rain vehicle looking like crap, so I decided that I need to Pimp my ride.

I just got a second job at best buy so I will be getting quite a large discount on all car audio/video accessories.

I have allready taken out both back seats and and in the process of totally cleaning everything up.

The exterior is in decent shape for the age, the car is grey with the wood trim on the sides. The center section of the fake wood is in good condition, but the trim peices are peeling. And the rims are in pretty bad looking shape.

I am going to start off by putting in some black or blue shag carpet from the rear to the back of the bucket seats.

Then I am going to fit a couch across the back facing forwards and bolt it into the mounts for the rear bench seat.

After this, I plan on adding in about 1,000$ or so retail of audio equiptment to make this sucker heard. Possibly will be adding in a tv/console in the middle behind the bucket seats to be viewed from the couch.

After this comes the exterior work:
I want to first either go to a junk yard and pick up some new rims and have them chromed, or chrome my current wheels. Possibly do either and paint them black instead of chroming. After this, I will be dropping 230$ on a cheap black gloss paint job on the whole car.

So far that is all I have really thought of to have fun with the car. My budget(not counting audio/video stuff) is around 500$ on the van because I don't plant on keeping it much longer than maybe a year or so.

Tell me what you guys think I should/shouldn't do, or any reccomendations on what to do differently. Definatly some pics to come in a day or two when I snap a few before work.

however, it sounds like you need a project to do. so if you feall feel the urge go for it. I liek teh couch idea but it's starting to sound like a limo. I've always wanted to do something about the trunk compartment in those cars as well. it's so big and is just ebgging to be used as something..a bed perphaps? or maybe a pool?

Why? This is a car for the rain. I am already buying a 600 in about a month. And I will be buying another car next summer or so. This is something that I can have fun with for quite cheap.

If I wanted a reasonable car I would have bought it. I can afford to spend 4-500 bucks for fun on this thing, and I think it is well worth it.

I figure its already worth 1k if I wanted to sell it....and why would I want money out of it if I don't plan on selling it? This isn't like a paintball gun, I plan on driving it until it gives up and then scrapping and junking it.

Update:
As of now, I have ordered Zebra pattern carpet which I am putting in this weekend

And I just dropped in and tested the beginning of my stereo system. Not going to go for anything special but for now it has a 4x52 Xplode head unit(reads mp3's, bout all I cared about) and put it a pair of Polk 5x7's in the front an 6x9's in the rear. At most, I will be putting in some kind of small sub and possible 2 speakers for the middle of the car.

Next step, find a couch that fits my size requirements and pick that sucker up!

put one alpine type-R 12"........i know you get a discount at bestbuy for em b/c my buddy works there. Set is with a good Mono amp and bump it!

Scratch that, just bought a 12 inch alpine sub tonight. Also picked up a Pioneer amp. Got em both at 50% off because the local Good Guys is closing down.

Tomorrow I get to go out and buy the power wires so I can hook that baby up. Then I can figure out an enclosure for it.

I bought a 93 grand caravan............. bigest mistake of my life. First the computer goes out, so I replace it, then the alternator goes out and burns half the wiring. Glad I didnt have my amp('s) in there.

..side note- arent you rich or something? is that why you still get other cars and a motorcycle?
