Going to Atco Raceway
Well, the time has come to take the IROC to the races. Saturday the 19th I'll be taking a trip to Atco with a few buddies of mine, driving a Regal Turbo, WRX, and a WS6. It should be an interesting day. The previous owner (who actually drives the Regal T) ran her and took home an ET of 14.6. Since then, I've gotten a pair of Summit Shorty headers with a Flowtec Y-pipe, gutted the airbox, installed K&Ns, ran a throttle body coolant bypass, and actually welded up the exhaust which was severed in 3 places , which DRAMATICALLY improved throttle response [/orgasm], and, if it means anything, 8.8mm Accel Spark plug wires.
Now, I have speculation as to the justice of giving this car a 14.6 timeslip. The previous owner ran her 5 times, and each time he got better:
15.94
15.62
15.14
14.98
14.64
Those numbers lead me to believe that there was more in her at that time.
When I race, I'm shooting for a 14.6 - 14.9 for my first few runs but a 14.3 ultimately by the end of the day.
What do you guys predict I'll run?

Depends on a lot of factors, but I would say you would start off in the 15's and be down to the mid-low 14's. It really depends on how well you drive, how well you prep the car, how well the track is set up, and what the weather is like.

i've seen near stock l98 f-body cars run 13.5's with just bolt-ons
anyway just buy my motor and you will be running low 12's even if you can't drive.

Lol dude if I had the money, I'd build my own motor. I saw the work you did though, nice job.

1990, last of the IROCZ. There's still some stipulation as to what year the engine belongs to, but I'm almost positive that it's from 1990 as well due to the fact that it has a MAP sensor, which was introduced in 1990 over the MAF sensor. I still wanna check the block # to make sure.
In the near future
-Set of 50 ratio tires (two weeks)
-Underdrive pulleys for xmas (Which I was real skeptical about at first but read up and saw dyno proven 15hp gains on several different occasions, for 60$ you cant beat that)
-A REAL catback system. Right now I've got a jerry rigged cat back with a Flowmaster 40 series muffler, but all pipes leading from the cat to the muffler are stock and welded together in two places they shouldnt have to be, and wrapped in one, lol.
-Summertime comes a new cam and head rebuild.
As for finding a 3rd gen to drop your motor into...that shouldnt be hard at all. They are EVERYWHERE.

I used to live less than a mile from the Atco Raceway. There used to be a paintball field there (on the edge in the woods) until it was shut down (didn't pay rent, but down too many of the wrong kind of trees).
Have fun.

sounds good, i'd add a set of 3.42's or 3.55's gears onto the mod list if you find out you have some 2.77's in that rear end. If you have a lap top, you should pick a interface cable and start datalogging and learning how to burn your own chip tunes, unless you've already started that. yeah i know 3rd gens are everywhere, but for some reason here there are ZERO for sale, that or they want $7000 for it, and I don't want someone's elses motor in my 3rd gen.

The rear has 2.73 gears, and for now, on the budget I am on, they are gonna stay in there. I don't know if I'm confident enough in that area right now to start ripping open my posi and interchanging gears. As far as datalogging and stuff, I've never gotten into it or read up on it much. What does it entail and what software and equiptment do you need? How hard is it and how beneficial is it?
Drop me a pm or something, thanks.

2.73's? Wow, no wonder it only runs 14s. I would definately swap it out for something in the mid 3's or low 4's, that would pick up your speed a lot. You might have to build up the trans and rear though.

If anything, I'd go 3.23...3.42 at the most. It's also my daily driver, so I can't sacrifice too much gas mileage.
