Yet another problem with the Explorer...

Yup, I still have a 2000 Ford Explorer..
Yup, there's more problems...
Ok...when I'm in idle..and I accelerate at a decent speed...the e-brake light comes on...and the brake is not engaged at all..
Any ideas???

Have your brakes felt sluggish lately?
Check your master cylinder for fluid and make sure it is full. If it isn't, then you have a leak in a brake line somewhere. Even if it is still full, check the brake lines because you might be in the early stage of having a hole in one, and all the fluid just hasn't come out yet. Get a friend to check under the car as you pump the brake in idle to see if there are leaks. If this is the issue, then you are going to have to repair that section of brake line (you can pick up brake lines at autozone for cheap, and a pipe bender to bend it to the shape of the stock one for about 10$) and then replace the fluid and bleed the brake lines.

EDIT! Make sure you DO NOT get brake fluid on your paint...it will take it right off. Good luck.

check the switch behind the e-brake first to make sure its not something super easy first. there's a little pin that needs to move in and out - turns the light on and off - and it can get stuck - spray with wd40 and get it to work smoothly. if that doesn't help at all - I'll have to wait til I go to work tomorrow and check what all brake related sensors are on the 00 exploders. [not a sp!] MOP! omg man, you go to vato zone - you lose 5 points lol (jk!)

Lol you tell me where else you can get 3 feet of brake line for $2 so you can go to school the next day and not pay a mechanic to do it for 100$, lol.

on most applications - when the e-brake pedal is depressed it pushes the pin up into the switch turning the light on - just like how the regular brake light switch works. if it's stuck, when he releases the e-brake the pin will stay stuck thinking the e-brake is still on, though the mechanical brake is released. I work on this crap everyday. the switch is NOT the same as the release mechanism.

It doesn't ever come on unless I accelerate quickly (for an Explorer) it never comes on if I'm breaking or anything like that...
Well...unless I have the parking brake engaged...

its a separate switch completely from your stoplight switch. just look behind the e-brake pedal - it's right there, just check it first for a bad connection or stuck pin is all you need to do, if it's fine, it's fine. the worst thing is to throw money and parts at your vehicle and not fix anything.
