That is one of those no frame bikes right? Where everything is connected at the engine instead of bolted to a full length frame? There was a thing on the discovery channel about them not to long ago. Very interesting.

well.... it still has a frame, the vaunted ducati ladder space frame (the red tubes) and a rear subframe (silver).
however, you're also right in that the engine is a "stress member", without which the frame will have very little torsional rigidity.

i think its ugly. I've never been a fan of bikes that do not have fairings. However i will give ducati that it looks crazy lightweight.

I've been thinking why we're getting such lukewarm response here when most other people who have seen this really love it.
But nevermind. I can see how some may not like the styling. Afterall, styling is all subjective, and the Eurpean do things a little differently.

dirtbikes ARE the roots of Motard.
for anyone not familiar with SuperMoto (aka SuperMotard) this is a really worthwhile read just to get some background info.

yeah, R1's and the rest are lots of fun. like i said i grew up on crotch-rockets, and back then, all "proper crotch-rockets were all inline-4s except for the ducati.
I don't knwo if i read you correctly, but i wasn't using the word "monster" to describe one of those sick bikes. what i was really referring to is the Ducati Moster. i haven't tried the new 1000cc Mosters, but I the older M900s were a blast; fat (and flat), juicy torque curve.
