What did I do?
I saw a nice 1972 Chevelle Convertible sitting on the side of the road. Being the sucker that I am for verts I had to go over and check it out. Well, it was for sale. So now I've got my uncle checking it over for me and if he gives it the ok I'm going to buy it. It isn't my color, but it's exactly what I was looking for and I can always repaint. So, here is a picture:

It's has a 350 2-bbl, which isn't a real powerful engine, but it is original and all numbers matching (I don't need a real powerful car anyway, I have the cobra). Plus it has the original air conditioner and cruise, which are tough to find. The guy even has the original title and bill of sale. It's in good shape too, no rust and solid floor pans.

Yea, I was always on the lookout for either an old Mustang or Chevelle to play around with, but I was holding out for a convertible and one that didn't need a ton of work.

Well, my uncle (who restores and collects Chevelles) is going to look it over for me, tear the engine down, drop the trans and rear, ect. If he doesn't find anything that would require major repair work them I am going to go for it.
It does have a few blemishes in the paint and the bumpers are going to need a re-chroming, but the interior is perfect and the top is perfect. It isn't a show car, but it is a nice driver. And the price is right.

In the last picture of the trunk the stuff on the top left is egg, some kids egged all the cars in the lot the night before, but I washed it off before it stripped the paint.

I don't much care for the front end, i like the 4 headlight ones more than the 2. but it looks like a great car. I dunno what the smog laws in jersey are, but in CA you don't have to smog pre-73 cars. that means you could throw a nice big block in there and not have to worry about smoggin it

I will try to answer you as best as I can.
You saw a nice 1972 Chevelle Convertible sitting on the side of the road. You're obviously a sucker, and you talk to your uncle alot. You then go ahead and buy a color with the wrong colour.
That about sums it up
That being said - really cool car! Which we had those over here in Norway...

Yup, It's pre-1973 so no real emissions restrictions. I don't know if I want want to go crazy with the engine, just leave it stock, or have my cousin build me something to my liking and keep the original engine on the side since it is numbers matching to the car. I know right away I would want want to swap the cast 2-bbl manifold with one of the 4-bbl manifolds we have sitting in the garage (off the old Blazers) and top that off with a 600cfm or so carb. That would pick it up another 15hp or so putting it somewhere between 175-200hp/275 lb-ft tq, which would give it roughly the same power to weight ratio as my Mazda Tribute. I would also want to change the rear from the lousy 10 bolt open to a 12 bolt posi (I think my uncle has one laying around from one of the SS Chevelles he restored). That is just basic stuff. If I did anything else I know I would go nuts and I would rather save money for a nice paint job first.
By the way, the duel headlight design was 1970 and previous. I like the single headlight design for its clean look, but I would prefer not having the corner turn signals like the 1971+ cars do. So I don't win either way, however a 1972 is cheaper than a 1970 or earlier, so I win there.

As long as it has a nice sound to it, I would buy it, either that or plan on putting in new exhaust headers-back as soon as I got it. To me, that is what all old muscle cars need, a really deep, rumble sound.
