In a 1/4 mile drag race, who would win if they were both stock?

My friend insists that it is the mustang but i think it is the charger

well IMO the 2 cars are so close it would all come down to who's driving. but with identical drivers, the stang would probably take the charger by one or two tenth's.

mustang > charger just go to ford.com and dodge.com and compare them ( what i would do if i were you is dazzle my friend with an easy powerpoint presentation to make him see it your way)

the stangs is a little lighter. so with a good driver I would bet on the ford....... the hemi in the charger is still a good runnin motor to say the least.

Stock SRT-8 Charger reportedly ran a 13.48@105.31
Stock 2005 GT Mustang reportedly ran a 13.5 sec@103.6
The 350hp Charger R/T ran a 14.1@100.9

So, the SRT-8 is slightly faster on average than the GT. But, the GT is quite a bit quicker than the R/T. Interesting though is that the SRT-8 300C is faster on average than the SRT-8 Charger.

Keep in mind too though, the SRT-8 is the highest performing Charger, the Mustang GT is the base V8 mustang. The next level of mustang hasn't been anounced yet (Mach 1, Bullit, Boss, GT350, ect), but I am a sure it will be faster (and cost less) than the SRT-8 Charger, and I know the new Cobra/GT500 will be.
