are you looking for an output to use with an amp
or
do you need an input to hook up a Mp3 player
there really arent any real good ones your best bet would be to pick up a headunit with the connections you are looking for

I am looking to hardwire a fm modulator to my head unit because awhile back I bought a Alpine head unit, and didnt even think about getting the one with RCA input. I just need a hard wire FM modulator so I can hook my ipod to it. Not the wireless ones.
ANd yeah, input lol.

I'm not completely following you here. You can't wire an FM transmitter to the headunit. The FM transmitter only connects to your mp3 player and broadcasts the signal on an fm frequency, so you then tune your radio to what ever frequency you decide to broadcast it on. So it HAS to be wireless, it can't be wired to the HU. I looked into getting one of these when i had an ipod and what I learned was that FM has a very narrow frequency response... so you'll be missing out on some of the highs and lows in the music, and it will sound like FM radio... not good if you're looking for great sound, but if you don't really care much then go for it. I'm not entirely sure about what products are best though. Also for some JVC headunits there is an addapter available to convert the CD changer port to RCA intputs... about $50, there might be a simmilar product for Alpines.

look for a HU that has an AUX in put or one that is IPOD compatible i know there several alpine and pioneer HUs that you can get an ipod adapter so you can hook into the docking part of the ipod and that will give you the best SQ

yeah i know the one your talking about you will need a cable that has an 1/8" headphone jack on each end of the cord taht will be better than FM modulated so if your tight on cash that would be the way to go

They do have fm mods that just plug into the cigg lighter and have usb and what ever a headphone plug is called on it. You just plug it into the lighter and it will put it through the attena with out tapping..... just a thought

Fm modulators suck as far as sound quality. I bought my head unit like 2yrs ago so it has no aux. input. Fm modulators are better than fm transmitters, but the sound quality is still almost sub cassette tape. Just shell out the cash for a new head unit, you can always ebay the old one. The wire you can get at walmart or radioshack. Depending on your head unit it will be either a micro stereo jack (headphone jack) on both ends, or a micro stereo jack on one end, and two rca jacks on the other end. Walmart actually sells one that functions as both for like $5.00

I spent like freakin $200 on this alpine head unit for everything. Wire harness, adpater kit, filler kit, all that crap...and I cant hook my ipod to it. At the time, I hadnt considered getting a ipod or a head unit that had a RCA input, because I just didnt think about it at the time. I just wanted a head unit that played MP3 cds, and now I want a head unit that I can plug my ipod into. I might just go to the place I got my head unit from, and get the one that has the ipod interface. I mean, alll I gotta do now is just plug the head unit in, and I am set. Everythings all set. Just sucks though, cuz I spent that money, and now I need to spend more money to get the one that I should have gotten in the first place.
I think my brother can use my old head unit though, so I guess I will sell it to him for like.,..idk $60? God this sucks....

hahaha...right after I posted this, I was like "Hey jon, I will sell it to you for $70" hes like okay...but thats gonna kinda be his Christmas present, cuz that thing has only been in there for like a month, and I really like it. Yes, he will need a adapter for it, I told him that I will sell him that for $70, but he hasta buy everything else to hook it up. I told him I can hook it up for him, cuz its not that hard, and he has no idea what to do...so cant you tell I am a bigger brother lol.
Also, what head units does that ipod interface work with? That alpine ipod interface box that you can get...I know it only works with some head units, and if I can get that, I wouldnt mind it, cuz then I can put the ipod somewhere else, and not worry about it falling out somewhere. So what head units is it that can use it?

Damn...but not really a fan of Kenwood, I am a freakin Alpine boy to the extreme. My friend has a Kenwood, and CDs get stuck in hers, my brother had a JVC, and his CD got stuck, and wouldnt come out, I had to take a hammer to it. On my old danger Ranger, I had a Sony, and it skipped CONSTANTLY. If I had a small bump, bam...skip. Pissed me off.
But hows it work smitty? Is it good?
