Yea, so I'm a Toyota fanboy.

Looks like Ford, Chevy, and Dodge will have a new competitor in the bigsize truck arena. Toyota finally is making a fullsize truck. Watch out Detroit.

Thats what they said about the t100 and it was the same size as a dakota. And as far as competing, Toyotas claim is there pickups, gas effiecient go almsot any where, and smaller than the big trucks. Dont get me wrong toyota is great but the reason they are climing so fast is alot of gas prices. Another thing the only thing that tundra is going to compete with is the F150 the #1 selling truck of all time (truth not belief.) There is no way it can compete with a F250 or an F350. There is a difference in class. I am not dissing toyota I know they are great trucks and cars. But I beleive they should stick to what they are best at is all.

It's easy to compete when the person you are competing with has unrelaible power plants.

Ya ok I hate chevs but the 350 is a heck of a motor over dodge, the longest motor to date. The 5.3's leave some desiring but they are getting there. The 5.4's are as solid as any. Now to your zone how many probs has cummins had? Funny thing is FORD owns a majority and dodge will soon see and end. Then what? Dis the cummins b/c it is in a ford? They are already in fords commercial truck class. Unreliable explains dodge............ the 5.4 is an excellent motor, the 5.3 is getting there, dodge revived the hemi, but they had probs in the beggining to.

i still think ford will run top dog with their 2 and 350s.

Nothin wrong with being a Toyota fan. I didn't think much of them till i got my RAV4, and although it's a small SUV, and looked down on by most, it's still a hell of a lot of fun, and can do more then Toyota even gives it credit for.

Should be interesting....

And here we have someone who still believes Ford owns Cummins, and to do in Dodge they'll soon pull out of all contracts.

And I wasn't complaining about the 5.4L I have one.

I was getting at the level in which Ford seems to have fallen on their ass in the diesel world. Anyone can compete with Ford in the Medium Duty truck line, when you can't produce a reliable product.

By the way, IIRC the F150 is the best selling single truck of all time. The GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado (the exact same truck) when added together have sold more than the F150. As to Diesels, I did a little comparison that I posted up here not too long ago and the Ford 6.0L is the most underpowered of the three. However, it does get the best mileage on average and cost the least to option (put in). Think about that for a second, what is the reason most people buy a diesel? Gas mileage, longevity, and money saved. If you are saving more money right from the beginning by going with Ford over Dodge/GM I am sure that will attract a lot of the commercial market. Sure, It is a relatively new engine so it has a few bugs that need to be worked out, but once they get it to the point that it is as reliable as the 7.3L it should sell pretty well to the people that normally buy the most trucks/vans.

I wonder if Toyota will put a diesel in their full size truck. They pretty much have to if they want to get the mileage they are known for. But then they have to decide if they want to go for the power or the mileage. I wonder who will build it for them too, Cat maybe? I definately wouldn't buy a gas one if they put an aluminum blocked DOHC engine in it. They are great when you want to make high revving power and get a lot out of a little engine, but is the complete opposite of what one would want in a truck. The cost for parts and labor would be nuts too if anything does break. Toyota could either do a good job and make full sized truck that will sell well, or completely screw it up.

gamergc264,
See if you can find out what they are going to use to power this thing.

I've never heard of anyone getting good gas mileage on their 6.0

And as for working the bugs out on it. I guess it has to many because Ford is dropping it for an all new 6.4L.

Is the 6.4L just a bored/stroked 6.0, or is it a completely new design?

Supposedly a complete new design. Using a sequential twin turbo setup etc.

No known power figures yet. But it will obviously be up in the 360/650 range if Ford plans to compete with the latest Duramax.

And Cummins is taking their 5,9 and making it up to a 6.7. But no numbers for that either.

That's news to me, I'm still living in the past though, the newest diesels we have is two 2000 E350's with the 7.3L. Though the oldest is in our 1962 Cat D6, still runs like a champ too. I've played around with all the new ones so far though. (Including Mercedes diesels in their E320 and Dodge Sprinter, which are excellent)

I hate my mom's RAV4 with a passion. Like I really hate it. I hate riding in it, I hate being seen it in. I just plain and simple hate that car/SUV or whatever.

Toyota will only be making 150,000 for the first year....they wont be taking out the competition anytime soon.

I bet they'll do a good job...they have with all their other cars.

the back looks like it might be coping Dodges super cab thingy they just came out with... .I wonder what it will look like. I sorta like Toyota Pickups. they are probably the only import pickup i'd buy.

Not reliable my A@@. The only thing dodge has is the cummins and it is barley more reliable. And to boot this is the first year stock the cummins has out done the stroke. Rather be cummin than strokin? Well one has to be done to get the other that comment is outlandish to say truthfully. The powerstroke is better at highway, the cummins bieng an excellent motor is low level tourqe. It produses at low rpms then loses it's power quickly. The powerstrokes peak isn't on the line of low end tourqe it revs at about 5500 so where does a typical V8 fall. The cummins is like a clydesdale vs a belgium. The clydesdale is stronger the belgium is a little faster. And the duramax is like a wanna be. It's peak is at an unusable level. So I guess it is as is. Ford is better for mileage and high way the cummins has low end power and pulli power. And one more thing the power stroke delivers 570foot pounds the dodge 610 foot pounds. 40 difference with the ford frame, the ford interior and the legacy>? The dodge barely outdoes it, there frames SUCK, there interior is a resemlance off of chrysler. The only thing there is the motor. Also the fords compression is alot higher and you want to talk buildable? It cost alot less to build a 1000hp stroker than a cummins.............
