Getting back into American Muscle
Well, I found out from a co-worker yesterday that a buddy of his mom's 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra was for sale. Took it for a spin yesterday, and I miss my V8s. She wants 8k for it. I was originally checking the car out for the co-worker, until she offered me her stang for my 99 Grand Prix GTP straight up. No joke, I thought hell had just frozen over. But, she needs a family car, and she doesn't need the mustang. She is the original owner, too. Car has 87k on the clock, but is in MINT shape. The car has never seen snow or rain. It has always been garaged and the body shows it. I still couldn't get over the fact that she wanted to trade this beautiful car for my prix. I thought she was still kidding, but she was serious. Car has headers of some sort, a full exhaust, no cats, an intake, nitto 555R tires, clutch and flywheel. Exhaust sounds awesome, but sounds pissed at the same time. Everything works, and the leather interior has no flaws whatsoever. Anyways, she is getting my car checked out at the local GM dealer on monday, and after that, its all a matter of swapping titles. I'll have pics on monday of the car to let all the stang fanatics on this board see the condition of the car. Its amazing; there is not one scratch, chip, or dent in the body. All I have to say, is that its about time I got another V8 again.

What engine does it have in it? If it has the 5.0L I'll buy it straight up. My mechanic turbo's them. He's got a turbo fox body LX 5.0L that runs a 10.37 and his son drives a turbo 1995 SN95 5.0L that is as fast as my Cobra.

It has the 5.0 in it. Yea, it is a hellava find, especially for its condition; I had no idea one was for sale, and not more than a mile from my house. I've been searching for a 99-04 Stang, but no dealer will give me hardly anything for my GTP. I'm not complaining, I'm trading a gtp straight up for a Mustang Cobra.

With a little money a super is an easy install, chip it and it will run alot better than it already does. And if it is stock exauhst it should have thorley headers on it which is what ford puts on the cobras. Nice find you should be very happy with it.

I was overjoyed to find the car, especially locally. I was originally going to seymore, in on tuesday to pick up a 2000 Blue gt 5-spd. But, the cobra is a lot closer, and I seriously would doubt that the 00 GT is in better shape. Only thing that sucks, is that I can't get to the bank, license branch, or insurance company, so no Cobra until tomorrow. I'll get some pics up to let you guys know what she looks like. Only thing I have now to do is clean out the GTP to get her ready for the trade

Hang on to that thing, the modern mustangs that are going to be worth the big bucks down the road are the 5.0L stangs (especially in the SN95 body, which is rarer), Cobra Rs, and the 2001+ stangs with 4.6L DOHC engines (like the Cobras and Mach 1s). The 5.0L stangs are already on the rise. Just a few years ago you could have had any one you want for around $2,500, now I haven't seen one under $5,000. They are great cars, just make sure you have good insurance, they are very expensive to insure.

Well, the car hasn't seen snow or rain, and I plan to keep it that way. As for insurance, full coverage all the way. Wierd thing is, it is cheaper to insure than the gtp. I go to pick it up today sometime. And I never plan on selling her.

There is a reason it hasn't seen snow or rain. You will find that out the first time you go to take off and the ground is wet.

I know how it is in snow or rain with a car like that. I had a 95 Cougar XR-7 with the 4.6 in it. She wasn't too fond of snow or rain. So, I kinda know what to expect in it if it ever rains on me. But, I have an 86 Toyota Pickup for a daily, and it is dirt cheap to insure, but it still runs like a top, even after 190k miles. So, I won't drive the stang in winter, but in the rain a few times.
