I just read in autoweek that there will be a new turbo version of the Solstice that makes 260hp. With that much power in such a light car (2900 lbs) expect 0-60 in under 5.5 seconds and a 13 second quarter mile. (Think Dodge SRT-4 with another 30hp and better handling). Plus it should have almost a perfect weight distribution and be an excellent handling car. All for around $25,000 depending on how you option it. Definately a neat little car.

Wow...that would get rid of my one problem with the solstice(4 banger). The only 4 cyl car that really amazes me is the Elise. But dayum...a Solstice with a vette engine, that would be one hell of a car to own.

Why not just buy a Vette? Same thing basically.

Anyway, like I said the Solstice GXP will pretty much be the fastest sub-$25,000 factory built car out there. It will be about as fast as a stock '05/'06 GT Mustang, handle better, and cost less; plus it's a convertible. Not bad at all. Sounds like a great car for teenage guys or younger adults who wants a fun weekend toy without spending a lot of money. That 4 cyl Ecotec is a great motor too, has a huge aftermarket following worldwide and has been pretty successful racing (drag racing too, there are two turboed blocks in drag cars making 600 and 800hp). By the way, the engine was actually designed by Lotus for GM. The Opel Speedster and Vauxhall VX, which are basically Lotus Elises, use the Ecotec.
