Amps don't really have an RMS lever, but are rated for max at a certain Ohmage. My JL 500 Slash V1 runs the same amperage from 1.5-4 Ohms, they underate them too so I'm prolly more like 700W across 4 Ohms.

Another thing to add on the power wire, make sure it is at least 18" from the pos battery terminal, I'd do closer to at least 12". Here's a few pics of my amp hooked up to two 10" Premiers in a cheap CC box, my buddy who attended Ritop (car audio tech school) is working on making me a sealed box out of 3/4" MDF.

I know it's a rats nest.

I'm also running 4 1/2" VRs in the front and 5 1/4" TRs in the back.

Amps dont have an RMS level......are you freaking serious......RMS is more important than max power by far.

<-----knows a lil bit about car audio himself. Nwanner why would you have your friend build you a sealed box...do you listen to techno or some ****....have him build you a ported box that is a dual snailshell with rectangle ports.

sealed= good b/c they are compact. But only provide tight short bass
ported= take up alot of room if built right. But provide the deep "King Kong" bass we all like.

speaking of boxes though.....hey pierced you think ill be able to fit a ported box for an RE sx12 in the g35 without completely losing my trunk. Or should I just have the shop build a sealed box (yuck!)

Should be able to get a ported box in there with out hurtin you too much. Specs on that box are callin for 1.5cf for a ported tuned to 35hz which isint a huge box at all.

I don't recall ever seeing an RMS rating on my 500/V1 box, but I could most certainly be wrong and I'll admit it as I'm not an expert and only know what I've learned from my friend who was also MECP certified. All I've ever heard for it was that JL rated it at 500W (prolly closer to 700W) and it could play close to there all day long.

I want a sealed box becuase ported boxes to me sound sloppy, I like that tight bass and I'll sacrifice decibles for it. You like yours, I like mine. There's way too many "king kong" Circuit City systems in POS rice cars running around my town, but I guess I'm partial.

Located on page 6 of that pdf.

I Highly doubt you are pushing 14.4v unless your running a high output alt, high performance batteries, and big 3 upgrade.

Ah, I didn't realize that was a pic of the 1400D. It crapped out on me for an unknown reason (was fairly old and went through several owners) and I've since switched to a 500-Slash series.

No wonder this forum is losing members like current stock values, you guys have no respect for others. Sorry not all of us can be experts on everything in life, why don't we just bash on everyone who is not as knowledgeable as us

Frequency Response: 5 Hz - 250 Hz (+0, -1dB)
Damping Factor: >500 @ 4 ohm / 50 Hz
>250 @ 2 ohm / 50 Hz

This is why I was confused, JL only rates the slash series with an RMS and not a max. I was thinking max when I should have said RMS.

Since when is not appreciating being crapped on considered "wearing your panties on the outside". Real mature bro.

RB get off your damn sopabox and act like the mature person you claim that you are. Since you've been posting lately it's been nothing but flames towards people.

Clean up will happen. And watch yourself RB.

I fail to see a soapbox, and I have more maturity than 90% of this board just because I can type without using numbers and capitol letters. Im just tired of all these people getting so butthurt over an internet forum. You've been here longer than me, so don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about.

But alright Super, I'll listen and keep to myself.

I wasn't in the right either. I didn't mean to imply that I was demanding any respect with my comment about my position in the military, just show that I'm not some clueless highschooler. I'm done with this discussion as it's not worth the trouble.

Good luck with the install mspainter.

Those circuit city systems will never be king kong. Trust me if you have a properly built and tuned ported box you'll be much happier.

How much time and/or money are we talking though? I can have my friend build me a sealed box all ready to go in a day. Also my other issue with the ported box is that to me it feels like at higher dbs the air itself is distorting around me. Also keep in mind my platform is a cheap '02 Corolla which isn't the best acoustically either. Maybe it's becuase I'm using a $50 CC box right now, but I'm just not liking the ported right now. It hasn't been built yet so I can do whatever I want with the sheet of MDF. That and we haven't been able to get the trunk to stop vibrating even with an entire sheet of dynomat and even the rear quarter panels vibrate horribly at high volume.

Right now my car is down with a bad clutch that might have killed the tranny (laziness on my part), so it's kinda just sitting there until I get the engine pulled, the clutch swapped out, and the tranny looked at.

I don't care for Dynomat too much. You might want to try picking up some eDead from Elemental Designs, IMHO I think it outperforms the dynomat. So you might want to pick a bit of that and put a couple layers on top of your dynomat and see how that works for you.

Elemental Designs
