So...new car time.
So pretty soon im going to be getting a new car, and I've narrowed it down to a few choices here. Looking for something with a bit of kick to it, but not something that will rape me of all of my money on gas. So I've been contemplating and I've thought of these five:
Porsche 951:
Wanted one of these for years, awesome look, feel, power, everything. Only drawback is it would tear me a new one with repairs.
Nissan 300zx:
Awesome sounding car, looks fun to drive. Haven't gotten the oportunity(sp) to drive one yet. IDK if I want a two seater, but that could be comprimised for power/comfort.
91'-93' Toyota MR2:
Love the look and such, two seats again could be an issue.
92'-96'BMW 3-series:
Always had a thing for bimmers, just love the classy look to them. They handle well and are a smooth ride.
Mazda Rx-7:
Don't know much about these, although I believe they are a rotary engine. Again, early ninties or late 80s model prefered. The reason I added this is because there is one down the street from where I work, just gorgeous.
Other suggestions are definatly appreciated. I currently drive and 84' Celica, slower than your grandmother running a 5k. I need something that can do 0-60 faster than 12 seconds, but not get 12 miles to the gallon. Don't get me wrong, I love muscle cars, just not right now. Probably when I have a midlife crisis someday I'll buy one. Oh, and ill probably have around 8-9k to spend.

I drove an RX-7 for 3 years and loved it. I made the mistake of selling it and buying the newer RX-8. The RX-8 is a very fine car but I felt like the 7 was a little sportier.

i am a fan of the rx-7's engine design, BUT everyone i know that had one had nothing but problems with the engine. And most of those things smoke very badly.

The base model RX-7 is kind of a turd. I raced a Turbo RX-7 and it was pretty stupid fast. I was talking to him and he said he got decent mileage. If you got a Fuel Injected Turbo RX-7 then you'd be looking at around 20-25.
Porsche would be cool. Good luck with insurance though. My friend had a 944 and he sold it. The 944 on Liability was more than his new GS-T on economical insurance or whatever it's called. For 9k you could get a pretty decent 944 turbo. That would be one badass car.
300zx has some go but they weigh so damn much. If you got the Twin Turbo one it'd have major potentiol. But I haven't found a TT for under 12k that didn't have problems.
BMW will label you a rich kid but ladies love a nice luxury car. BMW is for pimpin.
MR2s are good cars. Theres a pretty quick one around here. 25psi on pump gas. My buddy claims he's getting one shipped in from Wisconsin but he's claimed he's getting 30 different cars over the year.
As far as other cars go.. MKIII Supra? Or you could always go the muscle car and beater route. 8k for a nice Camaro then 1k for a geo or something. ORRR keep the Celica as a beater and get a nice muscle car.

When/where were you looking? The price on Zs has been dropping steadily these past few years. You can easily find a nice TT Z for $7k-$8k, and a really well-cared for Z for $12k. It depends on where you look and who you buy from.

Yeh, right. You can't see black ice, and even if there isn't any ice how is he gonna drive a 300zx in 6 inches of snow? It's not physically possible. Plus, very slowly or not, no 4wd and your done.

If you want to run 12's I'd think you would want something Turbocharged. But running fast will make your MPG's go down.

Well then he should go for a GSX or AWD Talon. That'd be perfect. Quick, AWD and kinda cheap. Good luck finding one, though.

Eh, usually in the winter my parents let me drive their suv, plus i am keeping the celica, even if i sold it i wouldn't get much for it. Speaking of DSMs, my friend has one he might sell me, only 3k. AWD turbo, nice car, i just dont know if its what im looking for. Probably should pick it up. Only problem is the clutch feels really strange. It might be because it's a heavier sport clutch, or that its going bad. He's going to have it checked out soon.

You'll become very familiar of your mechanic if you get a dsm.
