Nissan 300 ZX
Okay...my pile of a sunfire is kinda going on me...I want to get a new car bad. I want something turbo'd and alot quicker really bad...tired of getting my ass stomped.
Was looking around...found a 300zx...I have always wanted one. The guy only wants 2 grand...has 157K miles on her...dosent look too bad, and supposedly runs good. Havent really seen the car....thats just word of mouth...
Anyone here can give me any background on these cars and there reliabilty and stuff? Its a 1988 by the way.

well if it runs good and has 157k miles on it, its gotta be somewhat reliable, and its a nissan, which make good cars. i dunno, getting insurance for a turbo'd car would be some serious cash, but if youve got the money, i say you should go check it out, take it for a spin, maybe have a mechanic do a general check on it to make everything works fine, and then go from there whether or not you wanna buy it

why is everybody saying how hard it is to get insured for cheap? why does the insurance company have to know its got a turbo? i dont know if its cause of my insurer, or my dads policy, but he can just add any car, doesnt matter what the car is, for 104$ a month.

They don't have to know unless it's an actual turbo model. That's what the trusty VIN number is for.
As far as the car goes... I'd stay away. GS wasn't the turbo model, and the pre-1990 body style is UGLY. It's high mileage so you're going to run into problems real soon. Save your money and look for something else.

yea high mileage on a nissan = bad. That is the make of car i see more of. Hig mileage on a honda is ok, i did a tune-up on a 300,000 mile honda the other day, in which i discovered it had the original fuel filter and plug wires still on it
but nissan, and also mitsubishi's, once they get over 150,000 they can get expensive to keep on the road

The VIN number will tell if it was a factory turbo'd car, which since it is a 300zx, most likley was if it is in deed a turbo.
Kinda hard to hide a VIN from your insurance agent. I understand on a aftermaket turbo'd car tho.

i guess its just different out here. My dad has both me and my sister under his policy. She has a stock 2004 civic that makes like 95hp. I have my obnoxious big block chevelle, both are 104$ a month.
the way i see it, why tell the insurance company u have a turbo? just cause the vin says turbo doesnt mean you have one.

Yes, it does.
Trust me, A friend of mine has two 3000gt's. One is a vr4, the other is a base model. They know. The vr4 is alot more than the base one is.

i guess the insurance companies in new jersey are just lazy i guess. If i got a car that came torboed and had a VIN to prove it, i'd call my insurer and tell them i took it off, they really dont care. My insurer lets alot of stuff slide. They insured my car under my dads policy, even though its in my name, cause we have the same exact name (except he's jr. and im the 3rd), they said it doesnt matter, rofl.
