Vtec is overrated, it's mostly for economic purposes rather than performance. I'd rather have a cam that gives me power from idle to my peak HP rpm...but thats just me.

vtec doesnt add power, it gives back the stolen power so u just break even.

vtec = get an engine, and make it so the cam only has 1/2 the duration and lift and such when just cruising, and is back to a normal camshaft when at high revs.

i discovered something thats funny, the only reason people think vtec is fast is cause the sound of the engine at high revs and the site of the tach. When i take my sisters civic to 7000rpms it actually does feel fast, but its an illusion, if you turn the radio up real loud u cant even tell your on the gas, haha

Well when vtec first hits it butterflys, if you get a new intake manifold it usually gets rid of the butterfly effect and the vtec 'slams' in as hard as it can.. Thats what my buddy who tunes told me.
