Scion tC
It was funny....I came into the forum and read "Ricer 101" and then you started busting on Scions, and I was like...dammit, maybe I shouldnt post this...but I dont care.
I have my pile of a sunfire here that is about to die, and I need a new car. What do I come across? A Scion tC. I went to the dealer and I can get one for about $229 a month for 60 months....which is good, because I plan to keep the car. What is everyones opinions on the scion tCs? They make aftermarket turbos and superchargers for them, but I dont think I will do any of that. Also, that TRD supercharger is crap....160 hp stock and that supercharger is only pounding out 40 horsies...thats such crap.
What do you guys think of them? I havent test drove one yet...gonna probably go tomorrow to test drive.

No one should ever beat on you based on what you drive. It's when you start fooling with it trying to make it faster by strapping worthless stuff onto it or well...if you just go around saying how awesome it is when it really isn't.
Is the tC the little two door car-like one? There was a video of one on streetfire a long time ago that had a turbo with some un-needed high boost pressure. It sounded like it wanted to be killed.

its the one that actually looks like a car. i despise the shoeboxes, mainly because people who drive them think they're so badass and fast, when they're actually super slow and ugly

It's okay to mod it to a certain extent.
They are nice cars man. Like you said, you don't have any huge plans for it. So go to the dealer, test drive one, and work some numbers.

yeah... like the XTC around here that gets its ass handed to him by matts 94 integra... when an XTC gets spanked by a car that's been hydrolocked, and went through a tranny or two, we see the reasons not to put money into a tc other than for gas..
^^ true story... i dont hate tc's, just please dont do anything to it.. simple things.. dont dump thousands into this car..

If you do do anything to it, I hope you only do the sterio system.
I was rippin on 'em, but they are reliable for daily driving, not to go fast.

Actually, in my experiences, i've seen nothing but old people driving the shoebox, and i mean like 70+ old. I find that really ironic.

I dont plan to do any serious over $2K mods crap...I personally think Turbos bring the life of cars wayyyy down, and that supercharger...not even the TRD one, but even aftermarket ones are really expensive. My boss built up 2 mustangs in his day, so he knows the mods that actually count when it comes to raw power. He told me some stuff to do if I want some more umpf because, like I said, he knows the basics to raw power, not inconsistent turbo'd cars.
And yes, I plan on putting a big system....but I kinda dont want it visible, so I am gonna try and hide it somewhere.
Anyone race a tC ever?

Yup, lost by 2 or 3 cars.. Then again, I'm really slow.
They aren't too bad stock. It'll be able to beat a lot of Civics and Integras and what not.

Yeah...my friend has a Integra. Its stock and he claims its pounding out 187 HP stock....I wanna say thats bull****, but I dont think it is. Its not turbo'd or anything, and its a 1.8L....cant see how its pounding out 187 HP.
And yeah....thats all people have arond here to race are pretty much like stock civics with some mods, and thats about it. My friends have a couple of turbo'd cars, but thats it.
Would love a turbo, but for the price of the tC, I can put some money into it to make it a little faster then the turbos.....maybe.
Ohh yeah...whats the horsepower rating on a stock Integra with a 1.8L?

thats what I thought...he claims its pushing 180 HP, I knew he was bias.
Been researching new cars...anyone know a good car thats pretty fast for under $20K? So far the Scion is the only thing that is actually the cheapest with a asston of things on it. Cant think of brands and cars....I thought about the Chevy Cobalt SS supercharged...but thats too much.
Any suggestions? I wanna get new...so new, fast-ish, and under $20K.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy a Slowbalt.
The supercharged ones are somewhat alright, but they are still gay and for faggots.
Do you HAVE to buy new? Cause if you go with used, then theres a lot more options out there. Personally, I don't think I'll ever buy a new car.
Looked into the new Civic SI? Those things are pretty badass and are quick. 185 WHEEL horsepower, 200 crank. Not too shabby.
Otherwise as far as used goes... you could always get an LS1 Camaro.. Orrrr a Cobra or something.

Well with a new car, I can finance it, and pay it off...and Scion has cheap ass payments and its a toyota engine.
I ahve had 2 cars that are used. My first car was a Ford Ranger....payed triple what I payed for it just to keep it running.
My Second is my current car...a pontiac sunfire, and up until a month ago, was very reliable, and now the gas tank is pissing gas, the check engine light is on, and the alternator just went yesterday. I went to get the gas leak fixed, and the mechanic said it wouldnt be worth it, cuz it would be soo expensive.
With a new car...I dont hafta worry about anything except brakes and if a I burn a clutch...which I wont, cuz I have been driving standard for 3 years, havent burnt one on either vehicle.
Also, Civic SI...too much. There like $21K, and Honda said that the lowest payment was some small fortune a month over 5 years....so I think thats out of the question.
