It could've been, I didnt bend over and look too closely. We were up under the hood and he pointed out the bit of smoke coming from the exhaust, said it was a little bit of antifreeze and it would need a headgasket. He said id need to watch the antifreeze reservoir because it would need to be refilled after about 6 months.

It should be white smoke if it's the headgasket.

Yeah... I can't stand drop-ins. I'd rather spend the $400 or whatever it costs and get a spray-on.

Its official, picking it up friday! Went and test drove it today, shot the **** for awhile, turns out he has an aftermarket suspension in the rear, which looks about right considering it sits different/higher than other s10s ive seen, and a bunch of other stuff i cant remember. I even took the camera with me and totally left it in the car and forgot i had it. Ill have pics friday when i pick it up.

Make sure you get that headgasket fixed as soon as you get it. I wouldn't even drive it until that was done.

With that many miles, it may be burning a little oil too. Best way to check if it is, is make sure the oil level is good one day, and after you put some miles on it (not too much though just in case it is burning oil...don't want your oil getting low) and check it. Just keep checking until you have your oil changed. If the oil level changes a considerable amount, get a couple quarts of the oil you use and keep them in your truck. That way you can check it every now and again to see if it needs more...and if it does, you will have it.
I just spent 80 bucks getting my truck looked at today. Complete lube, oil change, had all the engine fluids topped off, and a new belt. The belt had a couple cracks in it and was squeeking...really annoying. Of course, my truck needed the biggest available belt...fricken 48 bucks. I also bought a couple quarts of the oil he put in case my truck is burning some since it has pretty high miles as well.
Have fun with your truck and be careful. Don't do anything stupid and take good care of it so you don't have to do any major repairs on it.

or instead of letting your vehicle burn oil you could check out the piston rings, and replace them, meaning you wont burn oil anymore... unless of course you have a cracked block...

yeah...i mean if you already have the head off to check/replace the head gasket, go ahead and check the piston rings while you're at it.. it cant hurt it, and you're probably better off checking it out anyways.. that way if you ever do start burning oil, you know that that's not the problem
