Picked out my truck.
Well, im finally getting a vehicle of my own.
BG INFO: My mom and I are going to a garage sale to look at some mini bikes they had listed. There was a sick custom roadster, about 3 go carts, and 2 mini bikes. I didnt look at any of em. As soon as I spotted the S10 I was at it.
THE TRUCK: Heres the specs as far as I know:
$1,800
1994 S10 Extended Cab
Engine: V6 4.3L High Output
Drivetrain: 4WD
Transmission: Automatic
Mileage: 138,XXX
Got air conditioning, power windows, locks, all that good stuff. Has oversized offroad tires and bedliner. The truck is beautiful inside and out, no flaws what-so-ever.
When he fired it up, he showed me the bit of smoke coming from the exhaust, and explained that it was antifreeze, and it would need a headgasket. He told me when the front left balljoint went out, he replaced the right along with it, and that its got a new exhaust system.
I cant get it until wendsday, because my mom cant get money out of the credit union until then, but hopefully they guy will take a $500 or so down payment so its ours.

might wanna try and get him down to 1500$ with that work thats needed. At first i didnt think it would be worth that 1800 with the given mileage and conditions, but its 4wd so thats a good buy
head gasket, if a car is driven with a blown head gasket, it doesnt take long to crack a head, but still a head gasket is like a 500$ job depending on the car and the shop.
And alot of the times upper ball joints can become a 300$ job (not lowers they come out pretty easy) alot of uppers are put in with huge factory rivets, which are made of the hardest steel you will ever see, which means it takes a long time to get them out of there. But hey maybe a s10 has easy ones

Headgasket is a ***** but it can be done. Just be sure to put EVERYTHING back. I'd use some gasket sealer stuff as well. Forgot what it's called..
Good luck man. Sounds like a decent truck. The Chevy 4.3 is badass.

lol, 4.3 is overrated. For the engine size, id rather go for a jeep 4.0, due to the fact that it has the same amount of cylinders, less displacement, but more power and torque than a 4.3. the drivetrain for a 4.3 kills the engine as well. That s-10 sounds pretty good, but id make sure that the head gaskets just blown and thats the only problem.. there could be underlying problems as well, as seen in our 2.2 cavvy. warped head and block. doesnt help that the block was cracked either. If you remove the valves from the head, make sure all the parts that you removed go into the same exact spot they came out of. DO NOT mix and match valves or anything else. a valve for piston 1 does not belong above piston 3, get the idea?

Jeep's inline 6 is probably the best motor ever.

Yeah, Ive had 3 years of Auto Tech so far so im good. We rebuilt motors all the time, and not ones that get taken apart and ready for the next person, we dropped these into all kinds of cars. My mom had a Jeep Cherokee with the inline 6 a few years ago, the thing was a beast.

Yikes, water in the engine isn't good. Too much and you can get everything from rust to bent valves, rods, cracked blocks and heads, ect. If you don't know how long it's been like that I would definately get it checked out.

Yea, we almost had the same thing happen to one of our front end loaders not to long ago. The oil cooler rusted out and dumped antifreeze into the oil. Luckily my father always checks the oil before he starts the machines up.

that's what a cold air intake does to a lowered car in wisconsin... where the roads make puddles when it rains
he actually drove it around like that until he had the time to take it apart and fix it... b18b blocks and water dont mix...
