My car is leaking something inside. Help please :)
Hey about a month ago I noticed some green liquid on the floormat of my Buick and i just though someone stepped in something and it came in on somebodys shoe or something. I just cleaned it off and it was cool. Today I go out to my car and its there again. Last night it wasnt and now this morning it was there. Its gotta be leaking into the inside somehow but i dont know where. I dont know much about engines so if someone could tell me what this stuff is and how it got there that would be appreciated. thanks!
Oh by the way Here is my car if anyone cares to see.

I have no idea what it could be. At first I jus thought it might be some liquid from the A/C (that is, if you car has one/a working one)...but now that I see that it's green, I don't know. Sorry
Oh, and nice dodge floor mats in a buick lol.

Anti-Freeze is green, and the resevoir could be close to that location in some cars...
I don't know what other liquid is green.... Maby its blue-ish and it is just your window wiper fluid?
Get under your hood and look what liquids are low...

Looks like anti-freeze. Probably from part of the heater system. I can't think of how else it would get inside the car, but I don't know everything.

yeh, it is almost definately anti freeze leaking from the heater core or somewhere around there. Have you looked up into the dash to see if you might be able to see what it is dripping from?

ok, youre all stupid. well, actually you were close
Its the heater core, and is found in that same exact place on most vehicles. A chevy heater core should not be super expensive, but not cheap either. It pretty much stores some hot coolant to be used for the heating system, hence the green fluid and the name "heater core".
get it replaced, and make sure you fill your coolant reservoir back up.

whoa i missed this thread
yea its without a doubt the heater core. Dont even bother to do it yourself, this job is terrible, i hate the GM heater core job. When u drop it off at the shop make sure u clean out the console cause they will be taking it out. 95% of the job is done from the interior, so basically make sure theres nothing in the car u want the mechanics to eff up

if you want your engine to not overheat because all of its coolant is sitting on the floorpan, yes.

yeah.. you definitely need to get it fixed.. otherwise your heats gonna suck, your cooling systems gonna suck, your car will smell ike ****, and you'll spend just as much money on extra coolant to keep filling up the reservoir anyways...

fyi, since you have a leak, if your temp gauge does hit 220, you will probably do some serious damage.
when the system is pressurized, the boiling point is lifted to around 250 (i think at least) so you can go to 240 and get away with it, but with no pressure, you can get in trouble easy

pre mixed will be expensive as hell.. get the fully concentrated stuff, it'll be a little cheaper, then you'll need a jug of distilled water. mix the coolant about 50-50, and that's all you should need. an empty coolant jug usually works well for mixing, but if you dont have one, make sure to save one when you're done with this.
definitely make sure you're watching your temp guage, make sure you're not getting too hot, running the reservoir out is not very good at all...

ok i went out and bought some 50/50 premixed before you could respond HuNtS and i filled the reservoir to the line which was like half way and the back of the jug said to fill the radiator too so i did. Now I dont have a temp guage so im hoping the engine light will go on if I get too hot? But if it isnt leaking very much is it safe to still drive as long as there is plenty of coolent in there? I also called the local shop and they said $300 to fix the heater core and fix the leak. Does that seem to be around the right price to pay? Thanks for the help everyone!

if you dont have a guage and just a light, i'd be extremely careful, it should be okay to drive, as long as the reservoir is full, just be careful of the leak, especially for someone sitting in the passenger seat.. i know i wouldnt want 160+ drgree coolant dripping on my legs...
