Truck audio

Well, as some of you know from my last thread, the stock system in my truck is pretty terrible...so I have a couple questions on what speakers/head unit has the most bang for your buck.

I am not picky on what brand the head unit is or anything...just something that is cheap, but is still a good head unit and has a lot of power...also a CD player (duh). It doesn't need one of those MP3 player hookups or anything either.

For speakers, I need to 6x9's (doors)...but I don't know what size the ones in the back are. I was on Circuit City and Best Buy's websites and did the whole fit match thing on both of the sites, and couldn't find anything other than the 6x9s in the doors...nothing said anything about the size of the back speakers.

I would also like 2 10in. subs that would have to fit behind the seats. Also an amp to power the subs. Once again, not really picky, just want something that puts out good, clean bass that doesn't cost a fortune. My cousin told me a site that had special sub enclosures that go under the seats...but I couldn't find it.

All help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I wont thread jack, but heres what I got:

1994 S10 Extended Cab
Budget probably $250-$300.

I dont want the best system or anything, just loud good hitting clean bass. Its an offroad truck, not a show truck. The extended cab is bigger than I thought, and im not sure what size subs would be best. I need a headunit with all this too, is theyre one that plays mp3's off like a hdd or something? Id rather do that than mess with CDs.

i've always liked panasonic headunits. i had a flip out one in my old car that was around $350. i dont know the model number. Alpine also makes good head units. For subs i've got 2 kicker comp 10's. they are nice for the money.

All 82 to 04 S-10s take either 4x6s or 4x10s in the rear. Just look at it, if its a huge oval, its a 4x10, if its oval but closer to a circle , its a 4x6.

All 94-04 S-10s and 95-04 Blazers use 6 3/4s in the front doors

you will need this dash kit
http://www.scosche.com/scosche.aspx?...B&CategoryID=5

a hu with the built in hdd will run you around 350-400 bux

for the front - Pioneer - 6-1/2" 2-Way TS-G1641R (you will have to install an adapter for this speaker) $45

for the rear - Pioneer 4" x 6" 2-Way Speakers (TSG4641R)$45 on sale at circuitcity.com

hu - pioneer DEH-P3800M $130

subs & amp - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1114638698347

on sale for $129 not the best but not the worst but your on a budget

50-75 for miscsub boxes, wiring, dash kits, adapters, and all that good stuff

so your prolly looking at around 400 bux or so but i would ask around and see if you can pick up some used stuff too it will save you alot of money and also look for clearance/store returns

i would go for the eD subs if cash flow allows it

if your wanting audio storage i would get the HU i suggested and pick up an ipod that HU is ipod capable and that would prolly be the easiest/cheapest way to get what you want

The ipod deal sounds like my best bet, but ****, I havent jumped on the bandwagon! Looks like the adapter wont work with the cheap Shuffle either. All in all, wouldnt you say the first thing should be a headunit? It might take a few months to get all this.

I have a alpine head unit, and with my new car, I am getting another alpine, cuz I love mine so much. My brother has a pioneer, I dont like it.
I would suggest the Alpine, only because I think there great head units. Have had a bad experience with sony and Jvc head units. JVC head units I hate with a passion, and sonys just skip all the time.
Also, if your opening is about a 2-din opening, I suggest the alpine center speaker thing. Thats what I am getting, instead of a dash kit, because then you will have definately more sound all around.
And Nissantuner, that amp/sub package you gave him is hilarious. Those subs can only handle 300w and the amp can only pound out 300w lol. Those subs are useless if you wanna take them out and put them on a better amp when you get a newer car or something.
I suggest crutchfield.com. They have alot of amp/sub combo packages, and there really good. I bought my amp/sub combo from them, and I love all of it. Also, they have deals on speakers all the time, and they have a specific vehicle placement thing thats pretty easy. Just a suggestion....
Good luck with it all. I love doing car audio and crap like this. Its soo much fun.

door speakers - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NXk5yTW...0&I=130TSA1671

rear speakers - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NXk5yTW...0&I=130TSA1671

hu - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NXk5yTW...0&I=130DEHP380

amp - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NXk5yTW...=120&I=236T282

for subs since space is limited in a single cab i would run these you can get 2 of em an a custom box from them for arond 140
http://www.edesignaudio.com/product....pid=32&cur=USD

wiring - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NXk5yTW...=711&I=142PA41

so your lookin at around 500 but you will have a nice sounding long lasting system

that should do you for subs and provide you with good clean bass and still hit fairly good.

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Bass-...oductDetail.do
and this should do you for enclosure. its the right size so you dont need to worry about it being too small of too big.
