It's official. Dodge Challenger is a go.
On July 1st during the NASCAR Pepsi 400 it will be announced that the Dodge Challenger will be a production car slated for the 2008MY. So if you liked the concept get your money ready.
It's the late 60's/early 70's all over again.

By the way, I'm a mustang guy, but the Challenger concept is a f****** amazing looking car. IMHO it looks better than the mustang and Camaro concept.

They said it will be more then the mustang, so I would say in the high 20's to mid 30's for the base 340/350hp version and high 30's to mid 40's for the 425hp version.

they aint gonna put in that motor that supposed to compete with the ls7?
challenger is a nice looking car. I personally dislike fords and mopars because of the of the lack of practical engineering done back in those days, but that is one sick body

sorry, not to get on your case or anything, but what do you mean by "practical engineering?" no offense, but chevy doesnt make the most rock solid stuff out there. Now, you want practical?? rear engine VW Bug, thats as practical as it gets - "the peoples car"

it will be that when stock car racing actually uses STOCK cars. not this BS they call nascar now. when car companies start competing with each other, making special kickass cars that just barely pass homologation cuz they sell only 500 of em to the public, THEN it will be the way it should be

im talking about the cars of the 50's 60's and 70's. The the VW's of that time were VERY practical and were awesome because of it. An engine could be changed in a RWD bug in 20 mins.
But, as far as domestics go, in that time frame, chevy pwns. All the little things, like some of the fords of that day had oversized fenderwells so it is a multi-hour job to do spark plugs, compare the water pump job of a chevy to a ford or dodge, or a timing chain.
The chevy front clip is so simple, practical, and strong, it has been the the front clip used on street-stock divisions of circle track racing for 40 years (by choice).
The only thing Ford had over chevy was the 9" rear. That is a great design, and nascar still uses it and nothing but it.

I was actually at the Pepsi 400 last night. It was pretty fun walking around getting alot of free stuff. And I must say the Chevy tent > Ford place. Even though I am a ford guy.
Also, I got to seee a new z06 get dyno'd. I think it had 361 HP and 365 lb's torque... something like that. Topspeed never was announced, but on an earlier run it was either 160 or something higher.
ps- the best part of the race was when Johnson wrecked and then Gordon wrecked. Go Kenseth
edit- topspeed for the vette was 180, not 160.

you sure that wasnt just a regular 2006 vete? they look the same except for the z06 emblem on the outside. With that vette driveline, theres about 10% loss of hp by the time it gets to the wheels, which would make me think it was a stock vette with the ls2 and 400hp, (400 - 40 = 360)
a z06 should have 430-460 at the wheels

It may have been....
Earlier they announced they were going to be testing both so I thought it was the z06. But now that you mention it, it didnt have the emblem.
