New car rumors
Here are some things I've heard floating around, not sure what is true and what is not, but I found them interesting.
1. The new Impala will return to RWD and have classic car styling cues. No news about the Monte Carlo, but I assume the same will happen if it works with the Impala.
2. A new Chevelle is in the works with '67 Chevelle styling influences, thought to be a coupe (two door) version of the RWD Impala, it may replace the Monte Carlo or just be another model in the mix. Not much is known about it for sure. Some say they've seen the concept version and it's a hatchback car. This makes sense if they want to keep the Monte Carlo.
3. GM is thinking about importing another Holden as the new version of the El Camino SS, possibly dropping the SSR which has proven to be a flop.
4. A 6cyl version of the Solstice (Zeta framed car) is planned, possibly as a Chevy model later, but a Saab model first.
5. In 2009 the Mustang will get a slightly refreshed body style and more power, possibly with a notchback and/or hard top convertible offering. Rumors suggest over 325hp for the base GT, the engine would offer DoD technology.
6. A KR version of the Shelby GT500 is in the works designed to squeeze more performance out of the GT500, rumored to have a similar engine to the GT supercar (550+hp and dry sump oiling).
7. A second SVT (Non-Shelby) Cobra (or Boss) is rumored as a model under the Shelby with at least 385 hp.
8. Roush will be involved somehow with Ford in the next version of the Mach 1.
Interesting stuff.

Oh, forgot one. Buick is working on a lot of new stuff. Including a Buick version of the Corvette, like Caddy did with the XLR. They want to introduce Buick to a younger generation.

buick coming out with a car for the younger generation would be a great idea on their part. they are a great company as far as mature peoples' cars, and adding a younger more stylish line would be great for them.
i also like the idea of the chevelle and the holden

btw heres the el camino australia is making right now
http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/...y?vehicleid=15
and a new grand national would definetly put buick ahead of all the others. At first i thought theres no way they could make todays emissions standards, but hey dodge managed to get the srt4 through and all the import turboed cars made it, i just cant think of a mass produced turboed v6 out there today

All im going to say, is anytime Roush has anything to do with a Ford, it is awesome.
But the chevelle thing is pretty interesting to me also. How about the Supra rumors?

Really the only import cars I like are supra's. And with domestic im just an all around Ford guy. And no, not because The fast and furious. My family has been seeing this doctor for a long time and he has one. ANd I always liked them since.
Now a supra rumor, "there will be both coupe and convertible versions of this car.The coupe will be equipped with a 5.0-litter V-8 producing 450 bhp, this
engine will not be available for open air model.
The last will get 3.5-litter V-6 producing 350 bhp, the same power train
used in the Lexus IS350 and GS350."

They wont make another turbo six car because the cost to create the new engine would be too great and would probably kill Buick which is already in trouble. Some have said what Buick will do instead is take the Camaro chassis, add luxery items to it, and use one of the Northstar engines instead of the LS2. One possibility is the 4.4L Supercharged NS engine that makes around 450hp.

What is it with all the import performance car manufactures going to V6's and V8's now? The inline 6 (with a turbo or two) used to be their engine of choice. Still is a great motor too; powerfull, reliable, and fewer parts than a V style engine. I think it would be neat to see a 5.0L I6 putting out Corvette power with greater torque and a more linear torque curve. With room left on the side for a turbo.

The Buick Lacurne (i spelled it wrong lol) is a nice car. I ride in one almost daily, and I enjoy it. Soo smooth of a ride. And I must say it looks great! They are doing more and more, coming out with totally new cars.
My cousin down in Florida has a Grand National.

i guess just the want to be taken as more of a stronger elite import car. Like how euro-imports are taken usually as fast cars

From what I've heard, the supra will return. Scion will offer the V6 model that you can trick out with scion accesories. Toyota will offer a V6 and a V8 model, and lexus will offer the V8 model in luxury trim. Rumor also has it that that nissan may introduce a 450Z to fill the gap between the Skyline and the 350Z. Don't forget about the skyline which will be here in a little while. Honda is rumored to be beefing up the NSX | |
