Should I do this
Alright, my truck (91 Chevy blazer with 125k, front right damage and rust) for a 95 Golf 2.0 with 18xk. Main reason is his great on gas. I will be adding about 750 dollars cash. His has new rims, system, jetta front end, and slammed. Mine has new rims/tires, radio, and extremely strong engine.
Would you do it?
Keep in mind, I'm going to college, and need something that will get better than 16 mpg, his gets around 30 on the highway going fast.

I would personally do it, but I'm not too into trucks.
Gas mileage is a big pro though.

I wouldn't do it.
You have a pretty reliable truck, even with 125k you can expect a decent amount of life if you treat it right. That Golf has wayy more miles, costs more to repair, and going by reputation, less reliable. The cash you save in gas will probly be offset by repairs and such.

It's close imo. I'd be in it for the fact that it is in good shape bodywise (it is isn't it?) and the mileage. I wouldn't be in it for the fact that it's riced out, and the fact that repairs might be more expensive, and the engine has high mileage.
Close one, I would try to haggle down to less cash, and if you can, then maybe.
Remember, there are other deals out there too...keep searching.

Where are you going to school? Does it snow there?
A 'slammed' golf might just be able to use that jetta front bumper as a plow. That can't be good. How was it modified anyway, were the springs cut, heated, or something else that wasn't good?
Plus you can haul a lot more of your stuff around in a blazer. Strong engine, mechanically well off? It sounds less likely to strand you somewhere away from home.

ok heres what i would do.
after a year in college, i know that a good mileage car is very important. gotta have a car that can get u 25mpg. What i would do, is tell him, keep the "rims" and do a straight trade, no 750$ factor.
but, again, there are alot of other deals out there, tomorrow im gonna try and get a 96 cavilier with a brand new cylinder head BUT a rod knock for 250$, then spend 150$ on a new crank and rods.

It really isn't riced out. Plus, I can sell the rims to some stupid kid around here for probably like 500 bucks. I don't think I'm gonna do it though, I have 4 grand in the bank, I'm jujst gonna save a little more and get a jetta or something that comes along. I do need something better on gas. I'm going 300 miles away(Atlantic city area- Richard Stockton), and it never snows down there. I already thought of that haha. Thanks guys, and I'll get pictures for you. It really isn't riced out, its done nice.

Well, it snows, but its usually gone in a day or so. Up here where I live(sussex county), we get a foot of snow when central jersey gets half an inch.
