i think the only reason its 0-60 isnt a world record is because its so light, and below 60mph the wings dont make much downforce, so traction at low speeds is a huge issue. I think the fact it can get enough traction to do it under 4 seconds is an engineering marvel

Yeah, the Atom...Such a sweet idea. If I had some extra money laying around, I'd pick one up.

crustybug im not sure what your talking about, "those kinda bike cars" theres no bike about it. Its basically a frame of a car with a 300hp engine in it and then tires.
that would be insane to drive. but i do have a question... how do you keep the tires on the ground? just flooring it should rip them off the ground

yea thats what i was saying, how elite that chassis is, to do 0-60 in under 3 seconds, with no weight or downforce,...... and those tires are skinny

Personally I'd rather have a Caterham/Lotus 7, especially one with a rotary engine. 1,000lbs with 300hp is just insane.

sorry, what i meant by that is that most of the types of cars you see like that have a modded hyabusa engine in them...

You talking to me? Or about the Atom?
No, a Lotus seven isn't a Lotus Elise. The seven was what made Lotus famous, pre Elise. It's still touted as the best handling car ever made. Lotus doesn't make them anymore, a company called Caterham bought the tooling and they make them now. The newest stock factory version does 0-100-0 in 11.95 seconds, faster then a porsche 911 turbo, new vette z06, Lambo Gallardo, M6, RS4, all Aston Martins, Lotus Exige, and a whole host of other much more expensive cars.

I saw an atom driving around town a couple weeks back. did some reseach, they're being made up in oregon for the US at ~35-45k, depending upon which engine is used. they're using GM ecotecs and trying to find a domestic replacement for the type-r engine they used overseas.
