"67 Mustang that eventually sports a Nissan RB26DETT, a twin-turbo straight-six familiar to gearheads as the motivating force behind the fierce Skyline GT-R. A version sporting a 430-cube Ford small-block was used by Rhys Millen for most of the sideways action shots, but when Hot Rod Magazine lined the two different 'stangs up at a dragstrip, the rice-burner ran the quarter mile in 13.32 seconds and 109.83 MPH - over 1.2 seconds quicker and 13 MPH faster than the Blue Oval V8. Ouch."
ok, first off, haha pwned, the import engine didnt make enough torque to get the car sideways, hahahahaha
ok second, i need to find the idiot that wrote this. He's comparing the 1/4 mile times of a n/a small block ford to a twin turboed straight 6. what an idiot.

"20. see ricers this is why people hate you. you are wrong, large displacement power plants allow much higher power levels than anything japan has ever produced. using a chevy performance catalog in a week i can build a 1200 hp twin turbo v8. you guys just need to get over all your weird *** culture. i think your just bitter about WW2. they try to imitate us but somethings just dont translate."

i liked the dude that said his honda engine would far outlast any american made engine... well apparently they forgot about the AMC designed 150, and the AMC designed 242 (2.5l jeep i4 and 4.0l I6) i see more of these engines running well over 200k than i do hondas... hell mines at like 255k... i expect it to go well over 300
EDIT: if you posted a comment you have to verify it by email b4 it shows up.. in case you didnt know.

yeah.. exactly.. american cars have no problem lasting that long as long as you take care of them... when you beat on them too hard they dont like it a whole lot lot.

well, no mater what you beat on its not going to like it, unless they make the engine out of metal that gets stronger under heated conditions or something...

30. RB26DETT may not be an inspiring name, but Windsor and Cleveland aren't much either. At least the Nissan motor tells you exactally what it is. RB is the engine series. Means it's a straight-six. 26 is the displacement; it's 2.6 litres. DE is twin-cam (D) fuel injected (E) and the TT is twin turbo.
Mustangs aren't anything special. They're dime-a-dozen. Who cares if somebody swaps in a modern engine? Especially one that makes great power and torque despite being only 150-something cubes.
I doubt most of the people commenting on how they can "take a Skyline" really can. Stock to stock, I'd bet on the Nissan. Modified, who knows? With enough cash, you can build just about anything to run an 8 second trip down the 1320, but there's more to life than the quarter mile. And that's where the Skyline GT-R has most domestic V8s beat. It can turn. It has AWD. And I'd think the gas mileage would be substantially better. Just my thoughts. No need to get any mullets in a knot.
^^ someone kill him.
35. And one last thing. Yes the skyline is an amazing car. I will give props where props are deserved. However, you realize the purpose of the skyline was to compete with domestic cars, to build a car that was easy to modify, rear wheel drive, and a car inspired by the corvette. The car is an amazing sports car and with minor modification and a lap top you can make the skyline a rubber burning monster. But its also worth noting that the rubber burning skylines that ppl refer to are worth 75+ thousand dollars. So instead of comparing the skyline to a mustang, compare it to the car it was meant to be compared to the corvette. And when you compare those two vehicles the corvette is simply the nicer, more powerful vehicle in stock wear. When us domestic car enthusiasts are bashing the imports its the honda civics, integras, CRX's etc. They cost the same amount as a mustang or camaro and you get a 1/4 of the car and 1/8 of the styling and excitment.

and they are comparing a STOCK RB26DETT to a STOCK dumbestic motor, thanks for playing
those RB motors make plenty of power to get a car sideways
a friend of mine has one of those in his 240, stock motor, plus intake/exhaust
tuned it and put 462 to the WHEELS, not too bad on a stock motor, the bottom end in those can take over 900HP without flinching
the skyline driveline is THE BEST AWD system out there, none compare to it, hands down, if you've ever seen how they work....amazing
i would take the skyline over anything american made

Not to hop on a side either way, but there both stock engines, and the skyline displaces 2.6 liters, prolly about half of the v-8.
But, who cares, drifting sucks anyways. I disslike any automotive contest that is based on style, rather than speed.
But- Toyota AE86 Corollas FTW.

all i hear is WAAAHHHH, us americans dont know how to make small motors with high HP so we have to make a big inefficient V8 and whine when ppl pull the motor out and put a *** motor in there
IF they could make a good one, the neons(ROFL) and slobalt SS(ROFLLLLL) would both be 300HP+, but they cant make it realiable
ps and yes AE86 FTW, i'm hooked on AWD tho, nothing like pulling up to some schmuk in a (insert domestic car here) and completely dusting them, all while waving out the window at them....maybe even blow a kiss to em
