Im not gonna lie, no. My father has owned them since he was younger than I, and he even told me if I were to get one to get a 600. And never get anything bigger. But maybe he said that because I have dirt bike experience? which is different...

edit- Also the way I see it, if your gonna do something stupid and completely idiotic on a 600, you will do( or try to do) the same thing on a smaller bike. People are born dumbass's, they dont just get that way by buying a 600 instead of a smaller bike.

You don't have to be idiotic to be going through a turn as a noob, get a little wobble, and grab too much throttle/let go of throttle, or grab your brakes and end up going down hard.

The whole point behind starting on a small bike is the fact that you WILL make mistakes. These mistakes are better made on 1.A bike that is more forgiving to mistakes and could keep you off the ground 2.A bike that will cost much less to fix in the even that it does go down(and usually will).

There is no difference between who is buying the bike, if you have never owned a streetbike, and you want a new 600, I think it is a foolish decision. I don't care if you are the most responsible person on the road, without experience, you WILL NOT react to bad situations as well as someone with experience. Just because you don't do wheelies at 100mph down the freeway splitting lanes doesn't mean you can get yourself out of a tight spot when some soccer mom in a huge SUV decides to change lanes into you with cars surrounding you. Yes, that situation can happen to you on any bike, but when you are in better control the of bike you are on, you have a better chance of getting out of that situation safely.

And about the whole Bubba buying a bike and nobody giving him crap for it:

He didn't make threads saying "Oh I'm going to go buy this", he just did it. There is no point in trying to talk somebody out of something they already have done. I don't think it was a wise choice, but I still wish him the best and hope he stays safe.

Ive been considering buying a bike, and I would like something in the 600 range, but an older bike. Ive got SOME streetbike experience, but not nearly enough to get a gixxer. I was thinking an older katana?

Really it doesn't matter what you buy..if you are a tard you are a tard regardless. I saw a video of a guy on a gold wing pulling out screwing up instantly too much gas bam laid it over. One of the guys in my platoon had a daytona for a while. Let a drunk guy ride it he recked it instantly. Then he bought up a new kawa 1000. He has already dropped it at a low speed. Said someone pulled out in front of him. Do I believe him? no he does stupid stuff all the time and thats how he is. do I tell him every day that he is gonna kill him self? pretty much. I rode dirt bikes alot as a kid. I have riden the same bike I have as an 03 and a 02 rc51 with twice the balls. If you ride like an idiot you will die like an idiot becoming a statistic in our hobby. If you are a squidy who doesn't wear his gear and likes doing wheelies down main drags only to lay your bike down then you are stupid.

Find a good group of guys who don't need to be 3 or 4 times the limit to have fun. I speed...sure Im a stupid kid its what i do. But if I go hit a nice set of mountain view twisties with short gaurd rails do I know well enough to slow it down on the way up to get an idea of the ride? of course. If you are smart about it then you can enjoy any bike. Then again I rode some guys older suzuki that was a 300something. Don't know much about it other than it was fun to ride and still had alot of low gear speed. I could have plenty of fun on that....do I like by beautiful little bike...hell yea.

If you wanna be a hardcore stunter racer..than start off smaller than 600. All the artic assault guys up here who rip up the roads have smaller bikes that they do alot of sweet stuff on.

-don't ride with idiots
-learn how your bike rides
-take the courses msf is king
-don't ride to impress others
-always be vigilant...others will kill you too...that includes bikers and 4 wheeled death bringers.
-don't be the idiot who crashes his bike on the first ride.

That brought back a bad memory. Shortly after joining the fire department we got called out to a motorcycle wreck on a hill. Ends up the driver was going in excess of 100 down a twisty hill while under the influence. Lets just say sliding + gaurd rail = decapitation... that wreck still sends chills down my spine.

If you like it, fine. I happen to have painted my brake calipers red because I liked it.

I think the resale point is a false hope though. Maybe if it was painted the color of the car and fit well...you know so it looked normal.

haven't seen the word agg in a while...was hoping it had died. As for the wreck toxic. Suckin. I was in sturgis 3 years ago when I saw some chunky older chick swerve to miss a semi that cross the center on a bad ass road. It was really slow going but she was trying to get away from the truck who veered towards her. Didn't work out so good. Laid the hog down it all slid towards the gaurd rail...she went up and over. It was a bad drop too. Everyone was told to move along so I didn't see what kinda damage happened to her but she died on the spot. Made me feel sick because I was getting really into bikes at the time. 17 year old kid out on vacation seeing that kinda crap.

I'll never stunt, I just want to ride and have a good time. I'll probably speed a lot, but I won't be pulling wheelies anywhere I go. Infact, I won't be pulling them at all unless it was on accident.

Back to the CF hood, I'm considering just painting my whole car after I get a new fender, trunk, and fix some rust spots. I was thinking black but I really like the electric blue or the blue that is on the Civic SI. I think that would look sharp. But I'm also wanting a new transmission because I'm pretty sure mine is in horrible shape.

I didn't give bubba any **** because he's not an idiot, has common sense, and has ridden bikes before. I got a 600cc bike because I'm not an idiot, I have common sense, and my bike has <90hp and weighs 500lbs+.

You will NEVER outgrow a 250 or 500. Know why? Because you could be on a ****ing Hayabusa and I guaran-damn-tee you somebody who KNOWS how to ride will pass your noob ass up in the twisties. Somebody with your attitude will never ride a bike to its full potential, whether it's a 250 ninja or a 600rr ninja.

And even if you did get a 250 and sell it after a few thousand miles, you'd still get just about what you paid for it. The experience is priceless. You'll get a good idea about how a bike handles, and if/when you screw up it isn't as dangerous and/or deadly as if you were on, say, that 120hp gixxer.

And no, I don't always think my opinion is right. I think my opinion is logical and justified. You're a noob who thinks lightly of a superbike, and that's a recipe for disaster. You seem to want a bike simply to be cool and have a bike. That's all fine and dandy, but don't lie to yourself and pretend that nothing bad will happen to you if you do get one.

You can do whatever you want. You just have to promise to post before/after pics.
