Alpine
Whats going on guys. Alright, so Im thinking about getting this sub (2)
http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...odel=SWX-1242D
which would be powered by this:
http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...odel=MRD-M1005
Now, im real big with JL. I love JL and hear only great things about them. Alpine I know makes great head units, but havnt heard much about there subs. Ive heard they are comparable to the JL w6's and have great lows. However, I heard there mid isnt to great aswell as its over punch. Thing is, I listen to the occasional rap but I mainly listen to techno/hardstyle with alot of kick and bass. If it helps, the subs will be in a sealed box regardless of which ones I get.
So, anyone with any experience with the type-X or any knowledge of alpine speakers?
thanx in advance.

fully powered type-x's will blow you away.... i have 2 12" type-r's both underpowered and they still hurt my ears, and move my rearview mirror to my backseat like instantly... the only thing alpines subs arent so hot at is highs, there's nothing in the higher frequency ranges, mid to lows are tight, crisp, and their overall punch is great... definitely nice subs.. also, on a side note, mabe it's different for the type-x's, but my type-r's sound WAY better/louder in a ported enclosure as compared to when i seal it (food for thought)

thanx for the info. And ya, any sub will sound louder in a ported enclosure. Being as the type-x's dont get that well on mid-highs, I want all the SQ I can get, so im going sealed. But I guess if I really like them ill port the box and see how that goes. thanx again for the post.

if your goin for SQ and still want some good bump i would look in to either infinity or polk audio subs both are very good stuff
they both have very nice bass responce aswell as a good SQ level they will also perform very well in a sealed enclosure and sound very well with the types of music you listen to
they will also be cheaper too

I had two Alpine Type-S 12s in a sealed box, and produced a very good sound for the price. In my cougar, they were very clear-enough bump, but didn't drown out everything else. In the talon, they were ridiculosly loud. But, still sounded good. I'd say go for it. I've owned various alpine products and have had no complaints as of yet.

Sounds like you want a lot of bass. Do you have the right speakers for the mids and highs so it balances out with your high output of bass?

I paid 100 for my Type-Rs and 150 for my Polk Momo CF Amp. Budget I know, but I'm very impressed with both. Plus I got pretty good hook-ups on both.
If you're spending that much I would look into something better like JL, RE, etc.
