Modern cars worth saving?
I find it amazing what some muscle cars and sports cars are going for at auction now, when years ago people couldn't give them away. What modern cars do you guys think will be worth a lot to collectors in 25-40 years?
I know they make a lot more of these modern cars then they did of some of those old cars, but I'm pretty sure the following will go up:
Ford '03/'04 Cobras
Ford GT (if it hasn't already)
Corvette C6 Z06
Turboed RX7s
Lotus Elise/Exige
........what else do you think?

'03 Turboed Eclipse would be a good one. Camaros, lightning (ford truck).

i think 3rd and 4th gen camaro's will never be up there with chevelles novas and 1st/2nd gen camaros when it comes to historic value. except for the ls1 models. But the tbi, tpi, and lt1 models just arent that special.
i THINK the orignal ls1 gto, and the first year of ls2 gto
DEFINETLY the 2006 z06 vette
DEFINETLY the lt5 vette
DEFINETLY the ford gt
DEFINETLY the first year and model of the new retro mustang that came out
and its already happened, but the original vipers, back when they were ROUGH and didnt have windows or anything.
i dont think you'll see many imports having a very high value in 25-40 years. Im sorry asain car enthusiasts, but japanesse steel is crap and does not last for long. Just try welding *** steel, its almost impossible it just burns right through.

Yea, my uncles '94 is back up to about what he paid for it after a long time of sitting at $30,000 or so.

Nissan 300ZX.
The more rare models, such as the slicktop, are already worth more than they should be, and the prices seem to be going up. I'm hanging on to mine.

Hmm, what about 240SX's with 1000+hp 2.7L RB26 skyline engines? I may have to steal Robs drift car when it's done.

I doubt it.
Unless you are kidding, my dad owns a pristine '73 Cadillac DeVille. Has about 38,000 miles on it and he picked it up for just $6,900.

Actually, I think they may go up in value if they prove to be the last production body on frame V8 car, which seems to be the case. If anything the Marauder will go up.

Preludes..
Flame me all you want but they are rare cars. They are wanted like crazy as well. The production numbers are already pretty slow and it's the best Honda made besides the S2000.
3rd gen camaros are going way up I've noticed. I don't know why either.
I'm sure 5.0 Stangs will be worth something someday.
300ZXs and 240SXs definitly.
Supras markIII and markIV.

eh i say preludes are a very eh sorta thing...they look like they can have something going for them but then you realize their FWD...their only fun going backwards.
i do agree on the 5.0 stangs, 300zx's, and 240sx's
i agree with the markIV because i stated it above but probably not the markIII. the markIV kind of buried it and i know quite a few people who drive markIII's hell i know where i could pick one up for less than 3 grand with less than 80k miles

5.0's will, but only the guys that are passionate about 5.0's. Like, alot of people will take a 427 69 camaro, whether they are a chevy guy or not, but that doesnt go for mustangs (exc 1st gen)
hondas....... no..... just... no.... Then engines might become popular for dune-buggies or something, but the frame/bodies? no. they wont last very long. American steel can get some surface rust and live on to see another day. But *** steel, crumbles like an old cookie.
lets do alittle experiment. lets look back at cars 20-25 years old because at 25 years old is when DMV sees the car as a historic car.One of the most well known imports in the world, the honda accord. go to ebay motors. Search for 1980-1987 honda accord. Theres one.
same exact search, but for corollas, 1980-1987, theres 10 as of now
same exact search, but for camaros, 1980-1987, theres 72 as of now
same exact search, but for mustangs, 1980-198 | |
