I'm going to tell you this straight. The ONLY cure for speeding is maturity. Once you get to a point in your life, you realize that speeding isn't worth it. I have reached that point the hard way. I have gotten 2 speeding tickets. The first one was just like a "whatever" to me. I didn't care all that much. I slowed down for about a week or two, and slowly creeped back into my habit of speeding. I got another ticket 2 months later.
When I got my 2nd ticket (from the SAME cop as the 1st) I was scared ****less. I JUST got my Grand Prix and didn't want my parents to take it away (paperwork wasn't even finished on it). I also found out that I was probably gonna lose my liscense for 6 months, lose my job, AND have to file for similar insurance to that of people with DUIs. I was a wreck for 2 days. Nothing has happened, and I don't think anything will. My insurance is gonna spike like a mofo in December when they reevaluate it, but I'm prepared to accept what happens.
Even today (1 month after the 2nd ticket), I do my best not to speed. If I do speed it is rarely more than 5 over. I still get nervous when I see cops. I have learned my lesson. I've found that I can enjoy my car without the "need for speed". If I want to go fast, I'll go to the dragstrip and run it a few times. If I want the feeling of speed, I'll just downshift the car (automatic) and let it sit in 3rd for a while. If I take a long trip, I'll use cruise control.
Don't let yourself find out the hard way that speeding isn't worth it. Take it from me. Force yourself to slow down even if you want to push the car to it's limits. Fight it. You'll thank yourself someday. Good luck.
PS: for the douchebags who will critque me for my actions: shut the **** up.

How does speeding and maturity even relate?
Oh and when I was pulled over I wasn't even speeding. Didn't even write my speed on the ticket.

A friend of mine from Las Vegas just told me about a game he played one time (yes, he admitted it's absolutely retarded).
It's called "Four Hours To California" or something. Basically, it usually takes 4 hours from Las Vegas to California, and 4 hours back. You have to try and make the whole trip in 4. They've never actually done it, however.

Just keep your car in first gear. Then you can hold the pedal to the floor if you want and never go over 60. With modern rev limiters and such you wont even have to worry about your engine blowing.
Honesly though, I drive 8-9 hours every other weekend. All I do is just keep with traffic. Sure, you may be doing 70-75 in a 65, but 99% of the time the cops wont bother you as long as you are staying with everyone and keeping the pace. Once you start flying by everyone you are going too fast and need to slow down.
Around town....you're on your own.

I also do about 6 hours every weekend. Roughly 400 miles. On the Parkway, if you aren't doing 10 over you cause accidents. It really depends on the highways, because its the same on 287. However, if I were to do 10 over through the middle of town, I'm gettin a nice fatty ticket. I usually set my cruise control to keep up with the flow of traffic in the middle lane, and chill. Then if I get pissed because they keep flucuating, I'll pass 'em and find an open area on the road and set my cruise control to like 10 over so I don't get killed by the other cars flyin by at 85+.

I only speed on the high way. In town there's too much traffic and too many lights to even try speeding.

I've had that happen on the Parkway. The turnpike and 80 are worse since theres more troopers on the parkway though.

Then if the police clock you going anything over, go to court and tell the judge, " I drive a Tempo, I cant break 80 going down hill" and the ticket will be dropped.
