One kick ass grand prix!!!!
I just got done detailing my Grand Prix for the first time. I'll tell you one thing, I have never seen a cleaner car and have never been so tired. The info I got from the guys here and from autopia.com was great. I love the way my car looks now. It seriously looks brand new. Here are some pics:
The tools:
Armor All Wheel Cleaner
Armor All Power Wash Gel (no bucket needed)
Meguiars Claybar and Quick detailing spray
Meguiars Scratch X (the best **** in the world)
Meguiars NXT Wax
Armor All Tire Shine Gel (not so great)
The car afterward:
The car is just about perfect. The paint is as smooth as glass. I used the products in order as shown. I did claybar the ENTIRE car and it was a pain in the ass, but turned out great. I was going to polish it, but it wasn't needed after I used the Scratch X. BTW, Scratch X is some good ****. It took out almost every scratch/scuff that was on the car in less than 30 seconds. I wish I had used it sooner, the car looks so much nicer now that there are no scratches. I recommend it for everyone.
The waxing was a pain, too (I still have missed spots). The white paint makes it hard to see what you have/haven't covered. Still, after putting the car in the sun, it was easier to spot the non-wiped wax.
The experience was good, and I only have one screw-up so far. There are some water spots near the back right of the trunk that I didn't wipe when I clayed the first time. I'll get them out tomorrow with the clay and cover it with wax. Other than that, it was perfect. The paint is as smooth, if not smoother, than glass and is almost reflective enough to see the details on someone's face. I love the way the car is right now. I'm almost afraid to drive it.
One thing though, I need some different tire shine, that armor all crap is hard to put on evenly. Suggestions?
*On another note* I may end up doing a basic detailing guide for use for the new guys. I learned a lot and I think I can really help some other people. Look for it in the near future.
