Added some stuff to the trailer.
Today I dug out a little square tubing and some angle iron so I could build some stuff for the trailer. I built a trimmer rack, trimmer line holder, and put a tool box on it. I still need to figure out a good method of securing my trimmers to the rack, cause I dont trust bungees all that much.

I wish I had the time to do a lawn business. I'd kick ass at it. I always help my buddy during spring and fall cleanups and if we get a rainy week, the next week after when he needs to get caught up. He has about 35 houses, and does other stuff on the side too like building walls and the such. Its pretty cool.

My mower doesnt come off the trailer for less than $40 and it just goes up from there. I have yards ranging from $40 to $150 but it just depends on the yard really.
I think I have the racks figured out. I can take another piece of angle and flip it on top of the other so it makes a C shape, throw a locking hitch pin in it and viola.
Refer to picture if that doesnt make sense, lol.

Keep in mind though for that initial $40 I mow/mulch,edge,weedeat,pick up any trash/limbs, and blow everything off. Not in that order though. Also if you start a bussiness you have to figure in gas for the equip and truck. Then you have all the other consumables to figure in trimmerline, mower blades, edger blades, tires, 2 stroke oil, maintenance supplies and if you get real into it insurance.
Hell if yall want I can make a lawn service thread where yall can ask all the questions you want.

we have a gravely riding mower, my john deere push, and his troy-bilt power mower.
and a blower i picked up for cheap at orscheln's on sale, and idk what kind of weedeater it is..old ha.
my mower is like 16yrs old (was my dad's) and it runs better than his new one half the time...nothin runs like a deer
looks like a good idea for the trailer, just make sure their not gonna slide back too far.
how long is ur trailer? i saw some guy that had a pretty long trailer and he had put up a grate in the front so he could just dump his grass there...good idea

gravley is good stuff. My trailer is 5'x14' its good most the time but every now and then I find myself wishing I got the wider one. The high sides for keeping grass in are good if you do alot of bagging but I mulch everything so for me theres no need to bag.

yeah it gets like that sometimes out here too. I just run over it twice and that will usually take care of it.

hey, we've been lookin for more yards..weve got 5 right now (3 of which are $35 but we only mow em every other week). whats the best way to get more yards? we want about 10 or 15...ive gone door to door in my neighborhood, called realtors, idk what else to do :S

get some flyers put up and some business cards. Make it look professional. Maybe put an ad in the newspaper.

It takes time to get a good customer base built up. Get some business cards made up (cheap at office depot) and post them on all the bulletin boards you can find. When ever you talk to someone give them a card, give your current customers cards they will pass em on to friends/family. Take a small text ad out in the local paper. I pay $40 a month for a 4 line ad with bold text and payed for it off the first call I got. Make a sign and attach it to your trailer and it doesn't have to be fancy "lawn service - ph num" will work. You could even get some magnetic signs and put on your truck.

Put em up on bulletin boards (grocery stores, post office, gas stations, schools, library) and be sure to give a couple to your current customers. Yeah the sign on the trailer is a great way to advertise I am gonna make a new one this weekend. I will post up pics so you can get some ideas for one of your own
