Overheating??
Alright got a new lil problem with the blazer. When ever I am towing the truck starts overheating if I am in city traffic, but if I'm on the interstate it does not overheat. It also doesn't over heat if I'm not towing in town or not. I recently had a radiator flush, new thermostat, and new radiator hoses.
Any Ideas what could be causing the overheating and what I could do to help keep temps down?

I am pretty sure its not the thermostat.I got an AC Delco from ABC Auto. Any way to test the fan clutch?

Double check the thermostat (make sure it's plug in their correctly). Also maybe start thinking about getting some electric fans to keep cool air coming in while sitting in traffic while idleing.
I wonder if dooms will have any other suggestions.

The elctric fan thing is a good idea either way. I have this setup on my mustang because it has air conditioning and it makes a big difference. The ekectic fan just sits on the front side of the radiator and paired with the regular fan it helps it stay much cooler.

i had a problem similar. First during idles my car would overheat like a *****, and on the road it would cool off. Eventually it was failing to start up, and after taking my g/f and her lil bro to a haunted trail/party and stoppin by movie gallery, my car died and was finally able to limp her back home. Down it as soon as you can to check your motor, make sure the thermostat isn't stuck, check gaskets, oil, radiator, everything.

First, make sure they put in the right amount of coolant. Don't just check the overflow, open the radiator and check it from in there (don't forget only open it with the engine cold). Also make sure there aren't any kinks in the hoses. Opening the radiator will also purge any air bubble that might have worked their way to the top.
Next, Try a new thermostat (maybe a bit lower temp) and some Red Line "water wetter".
It doesn't sound like a leak, bad head gasket, or bad temp sensor since it only over heats under stress, but you never know. Is it smoking at all or do you smell any burning coolant?

coolant is full, The current thermostat is only a couple months old and its a 190 so I really don't think its that and no smoking or coolant burning smell.
I ordered 2 10" electric fans today and i will also pick up some of the wetter water stuff too. Hopefully that will take care of the problem.

nope. All hoses, seals, and gaskets are new. I also changed out the thermostat with a new 190 degree and its still over heating while towing. I should have the fans delivered in a day or two so hopefully that will take care of it.

Did it overheat at all before you changed everything? How old is the radiator, engine block, and heads?

it didnt over heat when pulling my old trailer (5x8 no gate) and I didnt have this trailer before getting everything redone. This motor is from a 94 and was rebuilt late last year, it only had 30,000 miles on it when I got it. The radiator I have no idea how old it is, for all I know it could be the original one. I am thinking of maybe picking up a new one before too long but it will be a lil bit cause they are $200.

Any idea how much the new trailer weighs (and how much more it weighs than the old one?) If you've got all new lines, seals, hoses, and thermostat; the block was cleaned, the heads were cleaned, the water pump is in good shape, you've got new coolant.....then pretty much the only thing left is the radiator. When they get old they don't cool as well. I would try the fans and the water wetter for now. If it still overheats try a new radiator (maybe a high performance aftermarket one) and 180* degree thermostat. It shouldn't overheat then. If it does there is either a real big problem or you are just pulling too much for that engine.
Also, if you are constantly hauling trailers with the blazer and are planning on doing it for a long time it might be worth it to invest in an oil cooler and possibly transmission cooler if the truck doesn't already have them. I don't think either will help your overheating, but they are always heavily recommended for towing and most manufacturers add them as part of their towing package. They will definitely extend the life of your engine and trans. If you are planning on picking up a larger tow vehicle soon than forget it (I know you were looking at trucks).
