Legit, ya gotta tell me what city you think you'll live in and what city you'll be working in.
I'm not sure if you know this, but LA is relatively big.

haha.......yes i am aware that LA is rather large. For the first six months i will be living in Sacramento. Then after the academy is over i am looking to go to a South LA office and live in the Irvine area. I will be commuting home to Fresno, Ca every weekend while i am in Sac and will most likely make the commute pretty often even when i live down south. As of right now i'm leaning toward the gixxer. I have the mustang for rainy days anyways.

5 freeway it is.
Ya man, get a bike for sure, you could probably cut your commute by WAY more than half with a bike.

a ride like that on a bike gets rather uncomfortable if it's mostly highway... if you know a backroads route that allows for some shifting and some fun twisties, go for the bike.

But in Cali, you can ride on the dotted line and you can get past traffic the same way on a bike.

Until somebody doesn't see you, changes lanes, and you die.

Actually in Cali people are actually aware of motorists on the road. Unlike the midwest..

Well I don't live in Cali, so the closest I come to that is Walgreens.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh my god, are you serious? Drivers here are known for being terrible drivers, the freeway is covered with morons in their huge SUVs that love to change lanes without looking.
I wouldn't get a bike for the kind of commute you are talking about, freeways here are just too crowded and people are in too much of a rush, you'll end up getting hurt.
As far as the car goes, G35 coupes are sick cars, and they really are one of the best values on the market.
If your budget is around 35k you should also cross-shop the other small lux cars: Audi A4, Bmw 3-Series, Benz C-Class. You might even be able to snag a midsize version of those that is fairly new around that price range.

Let's see, here's some options:
G35 Coupe
G35 Sedan
Trailblazer SS
Dodge Charger
Chrysler 300C
Pontiac GTO
MazdaSpeed 6
Used Caddy CTS-V
BMW 3 Series
Audi A4
Mercedes C-Class
Lexus IS350
Since you already have the stang I would recommend getting something a bit larger. No reason to have two small vehicles. With something larger you get more comfort, it's safer, and it is more useful if you have to move a lot of stuff around.
Personally I would wait until next year when the Pontiac G8 comes out. It's a bigger car with a 362hp 6.0L V8 with displacement on demand (cuts down to 4cyl for better gas mileage), you can get it in a 6spd stick or 6spd auto, it has a limited slip rear (something the charger/300C doesn't), and it will handle extremely well for a large sedan.

I concur.
However, my brother in law has had a great deal of success commuting on his bike almost everyday.
