Audio Question.
I have a grand prix with the 6-speaker monsoon audio system and the stereo with the equalizer. The stereo has no stock RCA's, but I was wondering if it would be possible to splice the RCA converter cables into the rear speaker wires IN THE TRUNK, not behind the stereo itself. If I would do this, would I notice a loss in sound quality at all? I figured if I did it this way, theres just less wires to run to the trunk meaning less wire clutter.
Thanks

You would still need to run your remote wire and power wire, so in theory, you'll still be taking out your radio and ****.
I'd just pick up a headunit. Pioneer makes real good quality stuff for cheap. I paid $60 for my Pioneer and it's been awesome.

I've always wondered if you could run a switch to the remote line so you can turn it on and off instead of your radio deciding. May last headunit wouldn't turn on the amp unless it was playing the radio and it seriously pissed me off

Uh......you mean the fm/am stations? because if so, something is up w/ the head unit. But theoretically, all you have to do is attach a low voltage hot wire to your remote and you're set. My very first amp was ghetto rigged and that's how I had it run.......

yes that's what I meant. fourtnately, when i trashed my car, that headunit stayed in it. Now i've got a pioneer and it's warm enough today that I'm gonna hook up the power and see what sort of damage I can cause

You can make your own switch. Just install a switch somewhere in the dash and run 12v through it to the remote line. When the remote terminal on the amp sees 12v, it turns on.

I got it, I need a line level converter. sweet.
I'm not going to buy an aftermarket head unit because I want the car to appear/be as stock as possible, because this is no car I plan on keeping for its entire life. the more stock it is, the better the chance someone will buy it and pay good money for it. My friend has a GTP that i'm lookin at and i'd much rather have a boosted 3.8 than a n/a 3.8.

Not trying to steal thread, but while we're on the subject of amplifier connections i have one for Pierced. I'm getting a really annoying low rumble from my subs even when there is no music. Say if i pause it, my subs constantly have a slight rumble. What kind of noise eliminator from Sonix do I need?

Yea, but for like a whole year it didn't do it, then it just randomly started. Can I still get rid of the interference with something, or do i need to move my wires around?

I would check and clean all grounding connections first. Then check your RCAs to make sure they arent any breaks in the wires. Also does it only do it when the motor is on or when it is off too?
Check this page out it will help you diagnose it a lil more since it could be a number of things.

Thanks for the guide, I'll have to test some things. My RCA cable is the exact one they picture as being bad, so I may be buying a new one. It also talks about noise from the antenna, which I replaced right about when I started noticing the noise so I bet that could be it.
