The only bikes cheaper than my Firebolt ($10k) are the Blast and XB9SX ($8900). And my bike is not upright at all. If you're looking for an upright ride, check out the Ulysses or the Lightnings. They're both more upright than the Firebolt. The 'bolt is a sportbike for sure. The Ulysses is more of a standard/supermoto than a sportbike.
Yes I was talking about the Blast. Calm down there bud.

Rode with a guy who has the Buell 12R or whatever. Regrets buying it and he said he's trading it in for an R1 soon. Some people really like them though. Another local rider totaled his ZX6R and bought a Buell, but is thinking about trading it in for an 08' CBR 1000RR. Just seems like a trend, anyone who gets the Buell, gets bored or tired after a few months and looks into getting a liter bike.
Reliability has only been talked about as an issue with the first, tube-frame Buells. Ignorant people just continue to talk **** on them simply because the bikes aren't the typical cookie-cutter *** bikes.

And I dunno bout where you live, but pretty much anybody I've talked to who has owned a Buell has never gone back to I4 *** bikes. Ducatis and other twins, sure, but rarely do I meet someone who owns a Buell and has a single thought of ever going back to any other bike, especially ones that are much, much larger. Put an XB next to any other I4 literbike and you'll see the difference.

Personally, I could never go back to riding I4s. Since the very first ride on my 'Bolt I've been in love with it. The torque, the look, the sound, the feel, all head and shoulders above both my YZF600R and my friend's Gixxer I rode around for a bit. I absolutely hated the lack of power down low, when I hit the gas on my Buell, regardless of what RPM I'm at, it GOES. The Gixxer I had to sit there and wait....and wait....and wait for the power to kick in. I didn't like it at all.

The only people who are disappointed in a Buell are people who expect it to be anything like an I4 bike. The bike is vastly different, and for good reason. You simply can't compare the XBs to any of the popular sportbikes, they're in entirely different leagues. One is made for racing and they just slapped some lights on it and called it a streetbike, the other is built specifically for riding and having fun. It's not the fastest or quickest thing out there for sure, but when you're haulin ass from a stop there's nothing more fun than lifting the front wheel without even trying, just giving it all that monster torque from down low

And performance wise how do buells compare? I think thats where they are lacking.

If you're waiting for power on a Gixxer you need to learn how to downshift.

The 1125R is probably one of the ugliest bikes I've ever seen.

What do you mean, performance wise? It's like comparing an F1 car to a Mustang. You really can't compare them fairly at all, they're made for different purposes, their only thing in common is they can go fast (albeit one faster than the other). Gixxers are great race bikes, nobody would doubt that. But I'm not interested in a race bike, I'm not a racer. It hauls ass from a stop (THAT is where the fun is ), can lean with the best of em and I don't even have to worry about downshifting It works great in town as well as in the hills, and I don't know how anyone could ask for more.

And it's kinda hard to downshift from 1st gear You really need to ride a Buell or other V-Twin powered bike (I rode my friend's Ducati 749R around a parking lot once, that thing is insane) to feel the power you have the instant you open that clutch lever. I'm talking way down low, as you leave from a stop slowly (in a parking lot) and right when you've let go of the clutch, on my bike when I hit the gas, the bike GOES. The gixxer...not so much. I twisted the throttle on that thing, and had to wait what seemed like forever before the bike picked up the RPM enough to actually start making power and moving. I also was kinda put off by how smooth the bike was compared to the Buell. Even with super heavy bar ends the bars still vibrate and the rest of the bike 10x more. I like it, watching it idle at startup and it's bouncing around on the kickstand

As far as the 1125r, I wish they could put that Rotax motor in the XB. 150hp (compared to my 103) I was considering buying that over the XB, but its scoops and front fairing are just so goddamned huge and ugly. The 1125cr is pretty slick though

Oh and the 09 1125r comes in Arctic White too. I like it better like that

Your right, I do need to ride a twin bike. But there is nothing like 15,000+ RPM.

there's also nothing like 12 o'clocking your bike from a stop. unintentionally.

now that your bike is dead, go to the closest HD/Buell dealer and test ride one of the XB12s. they give free test rides as long as you have your insurance and license and gear etc. only then will you know what real torque feels like

I'm good friends with the manager at the local HD. I'd have to be 18 first though and I don't really care to take one out lol. Even if I did enjoy the TQ, they are just so ugly that I will never own one. No offense. I do like the Nightsters though. Very good looking bike.

I didn't crash nub. My bike just decided to take a **** on me. Cranks hard but it wont fire up, changed batter and plugs. Its getting gas. I think its electrical but we'll see.

Don't get the wrong idea either. I fully intend on crashing at some point. Whether it be because of me, or circumstances out of my control. It just comes with the territory. What a do very strongly believe, is that the decisions you make and the judgment that goes a long with them strongly influence the chances of crashing.

IT'S A HONDA!!!!

Gosh, didn't we just have this argument about Honda's reliability? Lolol. My Kawasaki has never died once on me or given me any problems since I've had it, and she takes a good amount of abuse. Hell, it's still on the original factory battery which is 5 years old.

That sucks though. Probably a ****ing lame ass sensor or something.

It's probably something simple, just have to narrow it down. Possibly a fuel filter, or fuel pump. We'll see.

Got the Gix back from Gretna Cycle today and went for a 150 mile with my brother and his new Suzuki Liter.

My 2nd attempt on my bike. We have an old F4i that we converted to naked, put a subframe and a cage on that we have been using to mess around with outside the shop. All lowspeed, no highway wheelies for this guy.

I did that the other day, except a tiny bit higher and rode it out for a good 5 seconds or so, but instead of easing off the throttle, I just snapped it back. Bike slammed down and my nuts weren't too thankfully after that.

One of the guys that we were riding with, I guess slipped on the peg and smashed the rear brake when he was coming back down from a 2nd gear wheelie. Bottomed out the front tree bad enough that it blew the top off of the shock. Gotta love our buddy that follows us around with a pickup! He was pretty well behind me when it happened, but my brother said it made one HELL of a sound and he somehow brought it back and stopped with out laying it down.

I'm thinking about working as much as possible during school and seeing if I can get a used ninja or something. I'm not really in it for the speed, but rather the gas. My Cherokee gets **** milage, and the only cure for me is a sport bike. I don't need something extremely fast, just something that can get up and go when I need it to, but not something with to much power because I have no experience. I think if I can make 3 grand I'll get a bike around May.

However, this probably wont happen.

2G's should get you on a 250 Ninja no problem.

$1500 - $2000 will get you a nice Ninja 250. $3000 will get you a pretty nice older 600. If you want a modern FI 600, or a Type R bike, look at spending atleast 4k.

I want an older 600 bike when I go to buy. I had a deal lined up to trade my cherokee for a bike but with winter coming up that didn't make any sense.

After I start working, I will start looking at the bikes in the area for sale on craigslist and try to find a 600. I dont mind replacing plastics but I would prefer something ready to cruise.
