I noticed there has been a lot of motorcycle threads and questions popping up lately. So heres a thread where everyone can come ask for advice, show off their new bike or gear, or just BS about bikes.
I am hunting a bike right now. The search has not been easy either. I picked up a beater car for $350 (97 plymouth seabreeze) wouldnt run smooth, turned out all it needed was a $7 fuel filter lol. So I figure having a a beater for rainy& nasty days I might as well get a bike. I am hoping to find one in my range in a couple weeks.
gave the metro to the g/f. traded one blazer off for a 4 wheeler. my brother has my other blazer until he gets another car. I still have one parts blazer and I need to go pick up a cherokee I bought a while back.
Thinking about it... Blah. One minute I'm like, thinking about selling my bike and quit riding. Another minute I want a 954RR. Another minute I want to turbo my 636. Goddamnit.
They make some adhesion promoter that you can get at paint stores that help filler stick to plastic.
Probably gonna spend $3k-$3.5k.
Yes I've used it on the plastic. I guess I mispoke when I said trying to get it to stick to plastic. Lets say its hard to fill a baseball size hole with some mesh and then trying to get the filler to stick and not get air bubbles.

Meh...the 08 ninjas have great resale but I still wouldn't really wanna buy new.

Meh. I'd buy a higher CC bike before I would ever turbo one. Unless I already had a busa, but a busa is already way to fast as it is anyway.
Liter bike is plenty fast... a 600 is even plenty fast. The turbo idea is just to have some fun with the bike. I think it'd be so badass to rig a turbo setup and it can be done under a grand. I can use my Power Commander and get a few more goodies from DynoJet for tuning. It'd just be fun to be able to romp on 1000s in a straight line and in corners. But it would be a lot of work.. I'd rather turbo another car.
Heres a few pics of that Honda I looked at before. Before when I looked at it the thing was in a garage. Checked it out in the sun and I wouldnt give more that 3k for it. I noticed some more scratches and the front break lever was broken.

You're not really going to corner any faster on a 600. Their are liter bikes that are lighter than their 600CC counterparts. But I see what your saying. At the point where I am, that just seems like a scary amount of power.

That paint job is disgusting.
But you'd still be able to rail corners better on a 600 just because of it's smaller size and power to weight ratio. I'm aware that most liter bikes are not more then 20-40lbs then their younger brother but the only advantage a liter bike has is speed. They handle about the same if not worse just because of the weight difference and the fact that it's designed differently. Most importantly it depends on the rider. 250s can outride 1000's all day on the track given a good rider and a squid.
Scary amount of power? Lol. Not really. I mean I've rode around with turbo 300-500hp Busas.. that to me would be ****ing scary. A little Mitsu turbo on a 636 wouldn't be too bad. I just think it'd be a fun project to do, and it really wouldn't be too difficult. Could get away with using a lot of stock DSM parts. My main concerns would be a manifold, fuel, tuning and piping.
Allen - Pretty sure those are aftermarket fairings to begin with. I'd say 3k is decent.. there's a few bikes in this area going for damn good prices if you're willing to travel..
****. My dad sprayed the fairings on my bike today and it went to ****. My dad decided not to turn the boothe on and it was humid as **** and the clear decided to not stick whatsoever. So its a wet sand and another go.
Well I almost crashed big time tonight. Was riding with 3 other friends and was leading. Was on a highway and I was booking about 130 and I didn't have my brights on.. out of nowhere I hit a turn. Slammed my front brake, slowed down to about 70 almost instantly and leaned the **** out of that turn. Probably one of the scariest things of my life. After tonight, I've decided I will NOT be upgrading any time soon.
Rest of the night was fun though. Multiple triple digit runs. Rode with an 03' CBR 600RR and 2 07' GSXR 600s. I was passing all three most the time..
Eh i wanna get a street bike but parents tell me they are not gonna help me kill myself. So looks like ima get a job here soon so i can work on gettin a bike =D. Thinkin about starting on something like a 600.What yall think?

I don't really know what to say.....going fast in straight lines........liek OMG no wai!!!!
Going 130 down a road you don't know, at night, regardless of brights or not. You're an idiot. Do you not have deer in KS?
I'm glad you realize you don't belong on a liter bike.

I've been on the highway before, it's just been a while so the turn really took me by surprise. I misjudged and miscalculated the distance from my memory. Stupid mistake yes, but everyone makes them. Yes there are deer, but I don't go fast where the deer are. 150 highway the land is fenced. Yes, it's still possible for a deer to get through, but highly unlikely. I wasn't too too worried about laying it down, it would have been a lowside more then likely. Unless I locked it up while braking, then it would have been a high side. I had full gear on including my leather jacket, so I probably would have been okay for the most part. I was mainly worried about my friend hitting me when I slowed down. Luckily he kept a good distance.
I would do just fine on a liter bike, but last night's incident, I would have been going a lot faster on a liter bike and probably wouldn't have been able to pull myself out of it. I haven't had my 600 scare me like that in a long time, I'll probably be keeping it for quite a while still.
If I get a bike, I'd like to think I'd get a 250. However, I know I would end up with a 600. I would stay there though, and not go up another level. This is simply because a 600 is fast enough. I bet a 250 is fast enough, but I don't want to seem like a complete pussy... lol
