Stock STi's aren't worth the money, but i bet the rally ones are set up pretty damn good.

Ok well lets see, my dad bought a '67 camaro for around $10,000 and I KNOW he didn't spend $22,000 on it, and oh wait, it ran 13.1, and he said if he got the transmission right it coulda dipped under 13......and all STi's i've ever seen did no better than 13.6...Sure It doesn't have 0 miles on it, but it purrs like a kitten! And the cobras ran low 13's as well.

thats all good and cool...now add some of the best tuning which makes the car perfect for rally racing or any motoextreme style racing. So you have faster excells then most porches a decent top speed which really in any real mans racing isn't extremely important gets decent fuel effectency as well as seats what 5 6?
You can't drive a 67 camaro to work every day and have it be economical as well as get the high dollar race results you want you can do that with the suburu.
I would take the suburu over the camaro most days of the week.

just like when my friend jerad asked which would you rather my lincoln ls or the 68 musclestang. well the LS tops at something like 140 marked at 160 and has all luxury accomodations while the mustang ate up about 4 mpg and sounded so cool girls would get off just listening to it bark by. then again it did rip up any sport car that tried touching it.

Well, you could buy a Nissan 300ZX TT for say $8000. Then spend the rest of that 24,000 on many things. Like a whole new exhaust system, new intake, new headers, an underdrive pulley, new flywheel, new drivetrain, new clutch, bigger turbos, new intercooler, etc etc. I garuantee it's going to be faster than the STI. Plus (in my opnion) it'll look a LOT better as well.

But really, you could do that with any car. The Z is just an example. Do it to an Eclipse, do it to a 'Vette or an older Stang, do it to a Camaro...They will all be faster.

Maybe you meant what other car is as fast as they are for $32,000? Lancer EVO is one that comes to mind.

i don't do that much but a pimped evo6 makes me all gigly and hot inside.
its true you can say that for most cars. talking stock you buy the car and at 30g new you can't do much better. I mean bottom line bmw or mercedes is right there and do they preform the same?

True but the thing is he was talking about speed. If you wanna talk economy, then there's other cars that out-do the STI as well. Basically the STI is a good car overall, very well rounded. If he were to have said "What other car for $32,000 is that well rounded?" I would have agreed. But he said speed, so of course we are comparing it to other fast cars.

speed is overrated, it may be nice to have a camaro on the drag strip, but in middleofnowheretown, NJ its a lot nicer to have an sti on the winding roads

okkkkkk well lets see for 32,000 your getting a car that pumps out 300 hp 300 lbs of torque out of a 4 cylinder also it is a very comfy car pretty good gas milage i know for a fact that the STi is faster than the cobras 390 horses

HOT ROD magazine did a comparison between the two and these guy are huge muscile car fans (so am i, i like american cars before any other...except maybe ferrari)
they took the STi over the stang and the STi is faster than the evo but overall the evo and STi are very close cars performance wise

And I'm just saying that for $32,000 you can mod a car to put out over twice that much horsepower.

Wow. Do you really care that much about a used car? I'd rather have a used car unless I got money coming out the wazoo. Used cars, while having more miles, are a TON cheaper, and may have some of the factory problems worked out. I really could care less if a car was used or not, with the exception of miles (maybe).

The AWD is tight, I admit. Thought the transmission isn't the greatest, and the differential leaves something to be said...I guess just mod it?
