Well I'm not sure what years you're talking about, but either way wouldn't it make more sense to be Mustang or Corvette? I'd say those are the two cars that have traditionally been rivals (as opposed to a Camaro).
It would really depend on the year and model for me.

That is a tough one. I own a mustang, so of course I have to vote stang. However, both have their good and bad points. I always loved GM engines, but Ford does make an impressive car. Like Jinjiro it comes down to models. I would take my Cobra over my moms old Camaro anyday, but if it was a Mustang II to any SS I would have to go with the SS. I guess in the long run the stang won since it is still here.

Pretty much what Dooms said, but if I could've found a brand new LS1 Trans AM or a Camaro = to it for a reasonable price, I'd of probably got that.

I went with stang, just because I've worked on plenty of them upgrading parts etc. I'm more familiar with the aftermarket parts availability out there than with Camaros. I more fond of the 302 over the newer 4.6 engine, but the DOHC motor is something to be said over the SOHC.

Very true.
I like The newer mustangs better, but I have always wanted to get an old camaro, like a 68, and go all out on it. It would be pretty fun.

I have a 88 Mustang thats fast as hell and the only domestic I fear is the Camaro. Sure its not fair that they have a 5,7 over my 5,0 but the mustang will always be the american woman!

Yeah and if Ford put in the aluminum 5.4 4V DOHC motor in the mustang, well, you get the point.
Every car can be faster than the other, it's all personal preferance these days.

My 2003 Cobra can make a 2002 SS look like it is standing still and it rides better. If you say, "well your Cobra is a year after the Camaro, that isn't fare" Well, 2002 was the year of the last Cobra R which is even faster then my Cobra in stock form. I do love Camaro's, but the late model Cobras are for the most part better then the late model SS's stock to stock. I think the SS was a better buy being you got good performance for a little more then half the price, but the Cobra is a killer.

I know a lot of people diss the 'Stang II's, but my fiance just got one, and the ride is much nicer than my friends Cammy

I thought there was a max 0.5 difference in the 1/4th and about 30/40 horsepower difference between them. How is that making it stand still?!?!?
Up till 2003, the Cobras were NOT that great stock. I spanked a gold 2002 Cobra before I got my LT4 hotcam & headers in. Lets forget about the Y2K Cobras alltogether.

Why? Yeah they're fast, but they definately aren't the fastest cars out there. Plus the rotary engines have lots of problems. I'd rather be a little bit slower (stock) and have something reliable.
