you can pick up an m8000 for $499 new, just depends where you look..

and for the record Toyota's are the best. i love my 81 shortbed, parents bought it in 81 and its still going. But if i had the money an FJ40 would be what i'd want, or a first generation 4runner...

and dont forget about the Unimog, its a sweet rig, but not seen alot over here in the US.

Well, personally I can't stand Bronco II's... They are just plain ugly. Although the regular bronco is a beauty, one my my close friends is looking to get a Bronco with a nice set up. Originally it was 78-79 Bronco/F-150 with a 351W or 4.9L I-6 with a dana 44 in the front, a ford 9 rear, mp205 xfer case and a c6 tranny, with I think a 10" Lift and 38" Boggers.

My vehicle is not for off roading but I have yet to get stuck and it gets the job done... 98 Explorer 4.0 OHV with automatic 4x4(similar to AWD), but with street tires :-/ It hasnt seen that BAD mud cause I know I wont make it through that ****, but its seen very wet and very lose mud pits and sand pits. I think the next truck I will get is a Bronco, or depending how much Im making then, an 02 Trans AM w/ WS6.

King, Yes, 2WD trucks shouldnt really try to go offroad in actual mud pits. I have had alot of fun in 2WD trucks on dry sand pits(soft sand), and I think a Tacoma, especially with the I-4 which it should be pretty light do well. My friends Mazda truck with a 3.0L V6 2WD went out in this huge sand pit with me(I followed him out, his truck seemed to do great, since it was light he didnt sink at all even when stopped. Mine on the other hand weighs alot more and just started to sink immediately if i tried to stop. But I must say the ruts I made were alot bigger then his :P

But really, you can expect to get stuck every time, even if you had boggers. And what kind and size tires do you have on your truck? ViP is absolutely right about the Limited slip... I was about to add that to mine but I read his again and saw he already said it.

No limited slip. Im not sure how big my tires are, they are stock, but they are massive, my truck looks lifted but really its just my tires.

I paid $1800 for mine. 147k oroiginal miles, original owner, in good condition. with 300k on the body check for rust. Check by the tail gate lots of rust there will probably need to have it replaced. also check the gutters above the driver and passenger side doors. U want as little as possible. None would be nice. I saw a clone of mine in perfect condition with a 4 inch lift and some 35 swampers. looked nice.

actually i think i might be going against my better self on this judgement and not get it and save for a little while longer, tere is a '90 EB bronco w/351 and 140k for like 2500, i bet i can negotiate to 2400 which is what ill have by next month. but to be quite honest im ill probably end up getting it a few days before my 18th birthday, cause my dad doesnt want me to have a car till im 18 cause of liability and all that ****. that man doesnt trust me worth crap, he wont let me get a motorcycle cause he thinks ill become a parapalejic and wont let me get a car cause ill crash it.

well i came close to my projected 2400 by the end of this money, i have 2200 and another paycheck coming this friday(probably end up with 170ish put in the bank) ... i have saved this long, i dont think it'll be too hard to come acros another one in the future.

on the subject of 4bying, a buddy and I went river hopping and almost drowned his 84 bronco II, came close, went half way up his door, lucky he had a good seal on the doors or else we would of had some fridged water to deal with(this was up at the pass, like 35º water). then went mudding where an intense knocking started to happen. think it might be the transfer case.
