Accuracy depends on paint to bore match. Get a good match, and you'll have better accuracy.
That being said, you should be able to put a tight grouping out if you use the right size paint for the J&J you already have. Take a ball and put it in the barrel. If it rolls through, it is too small a size for the bore. If it doesn't fit at all or sticks to the inside, it is too large. If it just barely sticks and you can blow it out of the barrel with your mouth, it is a good match. Repeat with several other balls to get an average.
Naturally, a barrel kit improves on the process by allowing you to match your barrel to the paint, instead of the other way around. It's good when you can only get one brand of paint.
