Lexan or some polycarbonate most likely. I'd go with that as a material, because I don't think most people would be very warm to having anything glass on their marker or field.
It hasn't been done that I am aware of.

Been done. One of the mech Pirhanas came with a clear barrel. My friend had it like 4 years ago. His barrel broke when he hit a concrete bunker with it - go figure.
Go to the pirhana website look at EXT Pro G3.

yea it can be done. the glass would actually be the best probably, just have to make sure that its thick enough to not shatter or anything. Nice thing about the glass is that just naturally it has the same surface finish as a boomstick. Trick is getting the bore right.

I don't see why you want one. Glass isn't going to help you a game... Go with what looks better on the field (preformance), not outside the field (cosmetics)..

They had an add-on to the Ram Rod they came out with in the late 90's with this concept.
The original ram rod was basically the frame of a full barrel- they added a clear plastic cover onto it to improve it somehow. The barrel sucked hardcore, though, it was a crappy concept and should've never been created.
It's so old school I can't find a picture of it anywhere on the internet. Someone should scan the old ad from APGs back in the day- mine are in OH so I can't do anything about it.

system x also made a 2 piece barrel and some had a clear tip. My shop has 2 they can't get rid of. They say the things blow, break easy.
