Barrel Size Theory
people say that anything after 14 inches add's spin, but J&J ceramics are alot more smooth so would a 16 inch be better than a 14 inch?

1) It doesn't add spin, it slows it down. After 14" the ball starts losing speed.
2) After 14", the accuracy does not get any better anyways.
3) j&j ceramics are not smoother than other barrels really, they are just good for their price.
4) The only reason people use anything after 14" is to push branches out of the way, or push you bunker in to play a bit tighter (speedball). They compensate for the speed by turning up the marker a bit. It's not for accuracy.

No, I think that's where it stops accelarating. Then for the next few inches it more or less maintains its speed.

you cant just assume that because a barrel is 16" long, it is automatically a gas hog. there are several factors that go into it. and those factors would be friction, and porting, along with a long list of other things like barometric pressure, humidity, temp, paint to barrel match, etc. the less friction and porting you have, the more effecient it will be. with a good PTB match and no porting, the ball could maintain its speed at 21" with low friction as far as barrels go. but most 21" barrels tend to have about 8" of porting, which leads to the decrease in effeciency.
