no don't get a freak barrel kit, the inserts are really bad.

Get a smart parts All-american or an Ultralite, thats all you need.

Stiffis, Apex, and Freak kits are not what he is looking for he said he wants a barrel that doesn't cost too much money.

I'd go with a J&J barrel. They're not too expensive ($30-40) and they are an excepional barrel especially for the price.

after a trend toward flat-lines and apex's,our group is now leaning back toward more standard barrels like the J&J ceramic, empire twister and CP one-piece.check other related threads for more info, but at these prices, you can afford to experiment.
p.s. i'm also happy with my 12" smart parts progressive i have on my back-up 98 .
among these commonly recommended barrels,in this price range, you really can't go wrong with any of them.
