My friend and I were planning on ballin', but we didn't want to make a trip to a city to buy paint. Luckily for us, my friend had some old paint. We got to looking around and it was some winter paint. We used it, but my friends brand new Spyder Pilot ACS was chopping balls so bad. I have a Piranah Evo, and I was chopping pretty bad as well. And when we weren't chopping, the balls were not flying straight. We think it had something to do with the balls sitting there for so long, and being crap paint. We got to loking around on the paint, and the balls were mishappen and just not very good.

So, long story short, is there an expiration date for paint? Or is there a way to keep balls from getting flat or dented? I know some friends of mine keep there balls in a fridge, I just read a post that said not to do that, so... I dunno. Any ideas?

There's no expire date on paintballs just because their freshness depends on how you stored it.

In example I had 2005 x-ball silver at home, and I shoot it this summer and the paint was like brand new. I stored it in a closet.

Depends on how you stored it, count 2 months for fresh paint. Longer than that, the paint will have to be really nicely stored. The best way is in a fresh, dark place, but not cold. If it's too cold, condensation will be created and water will damage paint.

Well, we have an old trailor house we use out by our little field that we use for camping/storage/rest house. He had in the floor of a bedroom.

And does this count for winter paint as well, or is there any special storage for it?

No special storage for winter paint, just keep it in dark, in a fresh and dry place.

I like to rotate min every week or so if possible. that way the paint isn't stressed too much on one side.

I kept paint fresh for nearly a year and a half that way. I've never been able to do that with any other paint though.

The shell on winter paint is formulated differantly and does not work well in summer. The Shell is to rubbery. A buddy of mine worked at Draxxus in Quebec Canada and said not to use it in summer as the balls may just bouce instead of break. Combine all the tips above and you paint will last a good while. Before you use old paint, feel it. Does it feel soft and mushy and have flat spots. If it does its no good. The cool dry dark place prevents mushy paint and the box rotation prevents flat spots.
