Stock Barrels
Are stock barrels really as bad as everyone says. It seems like everyone is telling me upgrading your barrel is a must. Why don't they put better barrels on tippmann guns stock if they are really that horrible.

stock barrels aren't bad all the times. Sometimes, like with a brass eagle samurai, the barrel is smaller than the balls so its really tight and ball breakage is high. I know because I owned one a long time ago.
But my m3 fuel's stock barrel which I haven't changed cuz it's a temp gun is very efficient. It's about 12 inches long and its wide enough to let paintballs come out smoothly and accurately. If the barrel is shorter than 8 inches though, u may wanna worry bout accuracy though. that's why most ppl upgrade. But if it's a longer barrel it should be ok with accuracy.
But like ur last thread, if u want a barrel for that a5, don't get something that wont match ur gun. a5s would look teh best with a scenario barrel or flatline barrel. May not perform better, but it would match a lot more

Put Electrical tape around the middle ports, it makes a pretty big difference IMO. Those ports ruin the barrel by releasing the pressure before the ball has finished accelarating...hence, suckage.
Tape is a good quick fix, it'll keep you shooting decently until you can afford a good aftermarket barrel like a Big Shot or Custom Products, etc.

Stock barrel on all paintblal guns suck in general (except the ones on guns that cost more then $800 ).
In order to keep pricing to a minimum...they think of ways they can make the gun cheaper. Barrel is one of them. There are so many after market barrels now a days (flaltines, conventional, 2 piece barrel kits) paintball companys assume you will buy a better barrel, so they think "why put money into a barrel and have to jack up the price when they are gonna replace it down the road n e wayz?"
Basicly companys now you will replace the barrel...so they dont put money into the barrel so they can keep the gun as cheap as possible.

my friend has an a-5 with a flatline system and its rly nice and matches the gun nicely. the only thing i dont like about it is that the flatline is heavier than most barrels and hard to run with, and you cant take the barrel off to clean it that much

honestly,i think quality will be much better, and cheaper than getting a 100 dollar barrel with doo dads on it
even a 30 dollar barrel will give you much better preformance than the stock

If you look down the stock barrel, you can see the milling! It blows pretty much everything but paint. I tried to smooth mine out with some 2000 grit sandpaper and some aluminum polish and it helped some. Then I broke down and blew $45 on a J&J ceramic. Wow, what a difference. I suggest you just get a new one and see how far you can throw the stock one. I have never tried covering up some of the porting, has any one else had luck w/ that?

Electrical tape around those middle ports. I tried it one night for s***'s and giggles just shooting around my backyard it seemed to make a marked improvement. I mean it's still not GREAT, but definitely worth trying once, if only just to say you did it.

ill have to try that,^^^^^
my tippy is the only gun ive fired but the barrel seems pretty accurate, once you line it up you can fire away from about 50 yards and hit the target every time. once your further away you need to start single shooting it

I want a regular barrel thats not ugly or stupid looking. I just want a longer, nicer, and all around better made version of my tippmann barrel. Same color too.

Moved, no more barrel questions!!!! Please post them in the right section. Flatline questions are the only ones allowed in the tippy forum, unless there is good reason to post barrel questions otherwise.
Thanks,
- Brian
