I purchased 3 guns for my boys and I for X-Mas. My oldest son a Tippmann 98 and the others were an Eradicator for me....to have something economical to play with and a T-Storm for my other son who will just shoot in the backyard. We went out this A.M. and both the T-storm and Eradicator chopped balls like crazy. Cleaned them and went back out and same thing. Am I using the wrong balls or something? Using scenario Series Xballs. We are new to paintball.

There are any of a number of things that could be causing ball chop. First, where are the breaks tking place, the breach, the barrel or both.

Start with the balls. Both of the markers are 'high pressure', so if you are using tournamet balls, for low pressure markers, then you will get ball chop. Or it could be poor quality balls, old and out of the round. I have found a good quality ball for your markers is Visible Impact, sold at Wal-Mart. I have used it for years with no problems.

Then there is the barrel. If you don't have a good barrel bore to paint match (i.e. the ball is to tight) it will break. Do a blow test. If the ball rolls through, it's too lose. If you put the ball in an have to blow hard it's to tight and not a good match (it will break). You should put the ball in, give it a good puff and you should be fine. Stock barrels are generally no the best, so consider a new barrel. All Brass Eagles are Spyder threaded.

It could also be your air source. Cold weather and CO2 are not a good compination. The cheapest solution is an expansion chamber, and a more nexpensive solution is an HPA tank.

And then it could be the bolt. Look into replacement bolt from Alamo City Paintball (alamocitypb.com) or a better bolt from Viewloader Parts (viewloderparts.com).

Finally there is the hopper. Since you are using gravity fed and not a force feed (which has infa-red 'eyes' to controll the ball drop) you might want to consider a better gravity fe hopper such as the Archon Tacamo. They are $3.95 at I&I Sports (iisports.com).

I hope this is usefull information. Paintball is a sport, but if your marker setup isn't working.....
