completely custom marker...
sorry, unfortunately i dont have anything amazing to show you.
but i was thinking, if you could make a gun out of anything, what would it be? i have access to *almost* everything on the periodic table, along with pretty much every alloy/compound you can think of, although im not sure about carbon fiber. also have access to pretty much any space age plastic you can think of. delrin, nylatron, something that starts with an R, teflon, and stuff i cant even pronounce.
i need something that is light, consistent, fast, with as little kick as possible, along with great air effeciency, in as small a package as possible. is there any particular operating system i should use? im thinking of something along the lines of a cyborg, but wow me with something else if you can think of it. or if you have an idea for a new operating system, that would be great...
just as an example of the resources that are available, i could probablly even make a custom board if i wanted to spend some time with it... but i'll probablly just use one thats already out.
so, throw out some ideas for this super machine. i have a milling machine and can tap threads too. let your imagination fly

matrixes and shockers dont have the best air effeciency... although i havent considered making a gun completely out of delrin or nylatron. it might have some effects on air effeciency to have a self lubricating gun, heh.

i was thinking of that too, we have the highest grade titanium possible. im pretty sure we also have aluminum that is better than "aircraft grade"

would anyone actually consider buying a delrin/nylatron/other plastic or maybe titanium body? how much would you be willing to pay? i'll see what can be done

Would derlin hold air pressure without flexing or failing? And how thick would it need to be?
Ti sounds like a cool project. Expensive, but cool none the less.

OK I work in a machine shop/Engine shop, and I also have a small CNC mill and a lathe at home, so I kinda know what i'm doing. :P
Make it out of Magnesium. We had a ferrari motor come into the shop with some magnesium parts, they literally weighed next to nothing. it wouldn't be cheap, but in my opinion that's the best thing to make it out of. I really doubt delrin would work. If you don't have Magnesium go with titanium or your better then aircraft grade alluminium. I'd say go with the alloy.
The Cyborg base is a great way to start, it sounds like you have an idea of how ****ing long it's going to take to do all this, but if time and money don't matter go for it. and post pics when you're done!

go buy a mag valve then build the body derlin. you could make it really light, but you would need metal inserts for the body becasue of the pressure from the bolt spring and for the threading for the barrel, detent, and feedneck.
do it^^^^do it^^^^do it^^^^

^^ hmm hadnt though of magnesium... but doesnt magnesium react chemically with water? maybe im thinking of manganese (sp)
^ i dont know if we can do 3d milling like that, but i suppose i could whip out the dremmel
it will probablly be awhile, as in months, with school starting soon and stuff, but hopefully i can actually get around to making something and show you guys...

Magnesium burns easily in small strips, powder ect., its the next row to the left on the PTOE that react to water.
it would be cool if you milled a body like that, but i dont think it would be feasible anyway. All thought it would look freeaking sweet in a gloss black with a yellow fade on the extruding parts, i'll see if i can colour it in paint and not make it look crappy(im really bored)
EDIT: never mind, it looked really crappy

use titanium. and build off of the sytemx nme platform. super low pressures and super smooth movements inside.

i dont really think that Titanium is feasable, while being stronger by mass then steel, it is also super duper expensive. Not to mention titaniums uncany ability to work harden extremely easily and probly break drill bits, and posibly break itself.
on the plus side you can anno it really easy
but only in a few colours, and you need lots of electricty, plus a custom ampridge controling thing.
Make it out of brass for the coolness of it being made out of brass

Clear poly-carb with metal sleeves inset for the moving parts and pressure holding areas. *nods*
